Classes Resume

New Years Eve was a BLAST! My friend Kristie had a party and a bunch of us were there. I got to see people I'd not seen since high school which was really nice. It was a great way to end my winter break. Although, there were a few things that night I wish I'd not learned concerning a certain guy (I still maintain that the world should be filled with Amazon women, with me and my friends as the ruling ladies, controlling men until they die. This theory was put into greater esteem yesterday when I saw some guy carrying a dozen roses, which I can assume were for some lady friend. Where are my roses? HUH? /male rant) but hey what can you do? Not much.

Well, classes have started back up again and I'm so glad to be back in action at OU. The excitement is intense because we're translating Herodotus' The Histories in Greek 212 which is awesome. If you ever get a chance to read him (Greek or English) you should. He's a fun storyteller as well as a worthwhile historian, although not so much like a historian as we picture today but a historian nonetheless. Also, I'm really excited for my Rome Under the Caesars class, which I'm taking with my fellow Classics enthusiast Meg. We're mainly focusing on Augustus and the Julio-Claudian emperors (Tiberius, Claudius, Nero). I must admit they really are the most fun to study due to their insane nature. Plus it gives me more of an excuse to watch the HBO series Rome and not feel guilty for wasting time watching TV. :D

The one sucky thing about this new quarter is I'm sick, as are the majority of my friends. (We're like passing it on to each other at lightening speed.) I developed a sinus infection which has taken my voice away and thrown it back at me with many MANY cracks. I sound like a frog which is better than two days ago when I could barely speak at all and when I did it sounded like a pig. Ick. But I'm getting better quickly thank goodness because I do have a bunch of schoolwork to do.

Besides classes and my sudden illness not much is up. Besides, studying is a life force unto itself.
