I actually cried. Although Dan and I always said that if he didn't die between the jaws of some savage animal, there'd be no justice in the world.

Do you think his last words were "Anything could happen in the next half-hour!"? Or am I just being crass? Regardless, the man was a legend, and I'm pretty sure I'll be comforting my housemate tonight, considering how much we both loved him.

I don't really think he'd be offended that people recognise the irony of the situation - I mean, his whole LIFE was a ticking time bomb in this respect! And he obviously died doing something he loved.

I just feel sad for his wife and kids. Apparently they don't even know yet - they're out hiking in the mountains, or something. I wouldn't want to be the person who had to track them down and tell them.

I think it's fair to say his last word was almost certainly "crickey". (although I'm not sure it would carry the same weight underwater).
