Into the Rockies

We had a relaxing weekend in Calgary, enjoying the relative luxury of the Marriott. You couldn't beat it for location either, as it had a private entrance to the excellent Glenbow museum next door, as well as being across the road from Calgary's iconic observation tower(190m tall).

Then today was back on the road driving west with the Rockies rising out of the clouds in front of us.

Once we arrived in Banff, only 120km from Calgary, we headed up their cable car, to the top of Sulphur Mountain(named after the hot springs), which had new snow on top. Mid-september and autumn is almost over up here. The mountain is 2200m high, so twice Table Mountain, but is surrounded by 3km high peaks. Amazing views.
