If you're the altruistic type, you can view this entry as a pensive, thoughtful introspective on my life thus far, and what the future holds. If you're the cynical type, you can view this entry as a shameless attempt to solicit birthday wishes. :)
In all seriousness, I cannot believe that I'll be 19 tomorrow. It's a sobering thought that despite a year of technical adulthood, I'm one year away from no longer having the mantle of 'teen' to hide behind. The rate at which time is flying just terrifies me.
However, my life thus far has been quite decent. There have been some craptastic events, the majority of which were entirely my fault. And these events managed to significantly alter my future to the point where I'm nowhere near where I thought I'd be three years ago (which is when things went downhill). But, I absolutely have to believe that things turn out the way they do for a reason, otherwise I'll be weighed down by regrets for the rest of my life.
*Frantically thinks of a way to end birthday entry on a happier note. Discards the first idea upon the realization that if Rumi's mother or anyone who knows Rumi's mother EVER finds this journal, Rumi would be toast. Is given second idea that, while related to the first, will not get Rumi in any sort of trouble. Hopefully. Fingers crossed. Knock on wood. Whatever is done to get luck from rabbit's feet.*
COUNTDOWN TO 21: 2 years, 21 hours and 45 minutes. What, ME? Excited about turning TWENTY-ONE? Perish the thought!
