Today was the last day of 2015, and I wanted to post a little about it. Got up around 7 so we would have enough time for a leisurely breakfast, and then down to our nearest cinema to see the latest Star Wars. No spoilers for those who did not see it, but it was a lot to see. In fact, I actually think it was too short, but what-the-hey! I'm probably going to get the DVD because of all the stuff it has in it....
Had a bit of lunch at Wendy's chain fast-food place, then went home for a little work on the keyboard. Still trying to get somewhat familiar with the new one. Dinner was at home. Jamie seems to believe that we need him on the table for meals. When we are finished, he'll ping-pong between us for a little petting hugging, stroking and check out the place-mats for crumbs and morsels...
News and reading after dinner. I wanted to finish SW:Aftermath, so I used that time to do that. Afterward, we had some time, so we played Dog-opoly (Dachshund version) until 11:45P. The game was technically a draw. For some reason, we do not have a celebration out here on the West Coast, so we watched the tape-delay from Times Square, and the ball-drop into 2016... We always have eggnog (plain) and fruitcake for our 12 o'clock. Sandy makes a good one.
Our Christmas lights stay on until Epiphany which is the 12th day after Christmas for us. Some people seem to think Christmas ends on the 24th. We'll probably be the last to take them down. I like the lights and I think a lot more people put up some displays this year. We had a couple of yards that did not have a square-inch NOT holding some light or support. Ours just ringed the windows and draped one shrub. We managed to add an inflatable dachshund (in a Santa Hat) to this year's display.
Yes, a very festive year-end! (
Still, I cannot but hope that 2016 will be better then this last year. The little things I mentioned above? Some people do not have any of those silly items. And we do not have to good very far in our own communities to find that out. If people would just look around them, they might see things and not wait for the three Spirits and a colleague that sports chains that are a bit more hefty than jewelry....
Well, a better year might be too much to ask for, but I have been happy to see the start of a brand new day. A Blessed New Year to y'all... May it truly be an empty slate for you to write better times upon it.
