here Character History: Chopper is a reindeer that grew up on the Grand Line Island known as Drum Island, a snowy and mountainous kingdom. From youth, he was a black sheep of the herd, left out because of his unusually-colored blue nose. Upon eating the Hito Hito no Mi (Human-Human Fruit), though, he was promptly ejected from the herd, forced to live as a hybrid of human and reindeer. When young Chopper attempted to visit a nearby village in large ‘human’ form, through, he was promptly attacked by gun-wielding humans that lived there. Thus, he began to distrust humans openly, connecting them to the weapons that could kill him.
That day, though, a quack doctor named Hiluluk, who was traveling through the kingdom administering cures that may or may not have been effective, found Chopper, bleeding to death from gunshot wounds. Hiluluk, out of compassion, sacrificed warmth (as well as dignity) in gaining Chopper’s trust not to attack him (I’ll leave you to fill in the blanks how >_>).
From then on, Chopper felt as if he owed the doctor, learning to work as his assistant and surrogate, and was given his name because of his antlers (They could chop trees, said Hiluluk). Together, the pair travelled the kingdom giving treatment, and Chopper began to harbor dreams of being a doctor on his own someday, with the cherry blossom and skull as symbols of hope planted in his head. But as things came to pass, Dr. Hiluluk relapsed, as he had a terminal disease from many years ago. Struggling desperately against weather, humans, and former herd members, Chopper found a mushroom that he hoped would cure his ‘father’, Dr. Hiluluk.
In actuality, the mushroom was a poisonous one that shortened lifespan dramatically. Hiluluk, though, instead of dying a broken man, went out in a literal blaze of glory, rebelling against the tyrannical king of Drum Island. Seeing this, Chopper became driven to become a doctor as great as his mentor was.
Some years later, he met the band of pirates known as the Straw Hats as they travelled to Drum Island, looking for a cure for the disease that their navigator, Nami, had picked up. As they made their way to the castle of Chopper’s new mentor, Dr. Kureha, the young buck met the man that would change his life-the Straw Hat Pirates’ cheerful captain, Monkey D. Luffy. With the pirates’ arrival, though, also came the arrival of the evil king of Drum Island, Wapol. As Chopper teamed up with the crew, he became less self-conscious of his ‘monstrous’ form that he could take, and instead fought tooth and nail with his new friends. In turn, they showed him that not all humans would harm him, and Chopper was able to trust people a little more.
Triumphing over Wapol and his henchmen and retaking Drum Island, Chopper found that his education as a doctor had reached his limits there. Packing up his things and saying goodbye to Dr. Kureha (though not without a goodbye shower of scalpels from her), he left to travel as the doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates.
As he sails across the seas, Chopper begins to slowly gain confidence. He is trusted as the expert on medicine aboard the ship of the Straw Hats, and makes new allies, and in some cases, role models, in his crewmates. The point in which Chopper will vanish from home is about a few adventures ahead. He will have helped them liberate a sandy, desert kingdom, as well as traveled into the sky aboard a flying ship. However, this deer has had a good taste of adventure, and will be looking forward to exploring a new place.
Character Personality:
Chopper, with his appetite for medical learning and exploration (oh, and cotton candy), is a great doctor aspiring to be a greater one. He is intelligent in many fields of medicine, and is happy to share his knowledge. Medicine comes easily to him, as he is able to treat patients with skill and precision, surpassing many doctors of varying degrees of experience. In addition, he is a voracious reader and loves books, especially medical ones.
However, it’s difficult to forget that he is a young character, and not fully mature. Sometimes he will yell for a doctor upon seeing someone hurt, and then realize that he is one. He can be shy or easily scared, and often he will attempt to hide from people he is scared of, but this effort usually fails as he hides the wrong way, exposing most of himself while hiding a portion of his head behind a wall.
Also, when complimented, he will insult the person complimenting him, but do so while expressing happiness and dancing. He has a hard time hiding things from other people as a result. In addition, he is very susceptible to lying, even ridiculous things
In addition, Chopper is still in the process of trusting others. Upon arriving, he will be very concerned and somewhat frightened of the new atmosphere, as he depends on his crew immensely. Before them, he was not aware that any humans see him as anything but a monster. So essentially, anyone that treats him kindly will win his loyalty and friendship. Although Chopper doesn’t have the highest self-esteem as a fighter, he will defend his friends to the death, taking an example after his crewmates.
He is very defensive about his appearance. In his default ‘brain’ form, Chopper is often mistaken for a tanuki(raccoon-dog), instead of a tonokai(reindeer). Because of his cute appearance, people often assume that he is the pet of the Straw Hats instead of their doctor, and he is underestimated. This is something that Chopper rather resents, and will lose his temper easily about, transforming into “Heavy” point and yell about. (See powers for a clarification)
Powers:
The Hito-Hito no Mi, or Human-Human fruit, is a ‘Devil’s fruit’ that Chopper ate. It allows him to converse as a human and also understand animals (which carries over from his reindeer heritage). Although the Wake takes away powers, I would like this trait to carry over.
The fruit’s main function, though, allows Chopper to shapeshift to a muscular ‘human’(“Heavy”) form, as well as his original deer form that stands on four legs and is speedier (“Walk”) form. Chopper is commonly seen in a hybrid mode that allows him to practice medicine (“Brain”) form. Until his powers develop within the game, I can keep him in this form.
In addition, Chopper is able to mix herbs to create a medicine known as the “Rumble” ball, which grants access to further forms. The medicine tampers with the nature of fruit’s wavelengths. These forms accessible with the Rumble Ball include “Jump”, “Guard”, “Arm” and “Horn” forms, each mutating Chopper slightly in appearance to better face foes. The Rumble ball, though, has a caveat- used too many times, it will turn him into a “Monster” form that is unstoppable to friend or foe until he is dunked in the ocean.
He’ll be bringing a backpack full of stuff to make these.
As the Hito Hito no Mi is a Devil’s fruit, its user cannot swim, and if tossed into deeper water, Chopper will drown.

First person:
I’ve found a library here! It’s got lots of neat books on medicine, and pirates, too.
[He leafs through a book and presses its contents up to the screen. It looks like a storybook on a crew sailing through a tough storm.]
Isn’t it great? I could stay here all day and read up on stuff I need to treat patients better. Maybe I can find some ones about antidotes, too…
[Chopper’s head whips around to take a look at a large section of shelves, face bright with excitement. He even begins to dance a little]
I’m…I’m not happy at all about all these books, you bastards! Shut up!
Third Person:
[This is still set in canon]
Night fell as the Going Merry, the ship that housed the Straw Hat Pirates, sailed along the waves with one lone crew member keeping watch.
Tonight, it was the turn of the ship doctor, Tony Tony Chopper. As he carefully climbed up the stairs to the crow’s nest, bidding the swordsman Zoro goodnight, Chopper settled onto a pile of pillows (he was short, after all) to peek over the crow’s nest and into the ocean.
He had taken along a book of skeletal reconstruction to pass the time, as it would be a good three hours before Sanji the cook took watch. To keep up with the pace of their navigators’ finicky but reliable compass, the Straw Hats had to keep sailing in order to get reliable readings. As the sea grew quiet, Chopper wondered what exactly keeping watch entitled.
He had never been assigned to such a task before, but during dinner, it was Zoro that suggested it. “You’re ready enough for it,” he had said. This, to Chopper, was an acknowledgement more than anything that he had become braver. Brave enough to sit in the dead of night, guarding the ship against surprise attacks as his crewmates slept soundly in their quarters below.
A noise overhead startled the deer, as he looked up with an alarmed gaze. But, as it was only a particularly loud seagull, the doctor quickly was calmed by the quiet waves and the pale yellow moonlight settling over the sea. He had to stay there, thought Chopper. It was a test to see if he had the courage to guard one of a pirate’s most treasured crewmates-the ship itself. Glancing at the patched and worn mast of the Merry, Chopper found his thoughts drifting to all the fights, wars, and conflicts the ship had seen. Would it sail for much longer?
Whatever the case was, he knew that he would guard it, along with other of his friends, at any cost.
Bracing himself for a long watch, the doctor waited as the night passed before
