I really want to update properly but have a feeling this will be shorter than I would like!
Christmas summary:
Christmas was good. We never got around to putting any decorations up, but I had fun wrapping presents with ribbons and things which I don't do usually. On Christmas day we went to James' cousin's house for dinner and his little cousin (Ryan's third cousin to be precise) Iman was there. She is 14 months older than he is so it was nice to have an idea of what he will be like next year!
On Boxing Day we went to my mum's house and had a 3 course meal of chicken soup, coq au vin and apple and blackberry crumble, which was lovely. Then we opened some more presents, Ryan had twice as many as anyone else of course! He got a couple of Christmas outfits which I am a bit confused about because by the time I opened them he's not going to be wearing them and they're not going to fit next year... One was a pack of vests as well which would have been great but I had bought a pack of vests in age 0-3 the week before because I thought that was the last thing anyone would buy! I might be able to return them for a different size though since now we have got too many.
My mum had got everyone Woolworths bargains as me and Catherine had had our presents already and James just got money. She had meant to just get a packet of crisps or something so he had something to open but ended up looking at the reduced things and so I got a picture frame with several holes, which is actually really good apart from the fact there is no way to keep the pictures in their individual places unless you stick them all to a bit of paper or something! James got a set of cutlery because we're always leaving cutlery in the dishwasher and running out, and my sister got one of those rubber pipe things you attach to the bath taps to make it into a shower head. Then we all played board games (Thinkblot and Totopoly) and used the bath/shower adapter thing as a telephone and my mum was crying with laughter asking why we'd never introduced her to this game before! :) We ended up getting home at midnight.
Had a quiet couple of days and then went up to Chester to see Suzanne, Rich and their daughter Megan who is 6 months old but roughly the same size as Ryan! They had the Rainforest Jumperoo which I wanted to get for Ryan in the sales so I tried him in it and he liked it but he was too small for the seat and he can't really hold his head up well enough for it yet so I decided we would still get on but shop around, it was on kiddicare.com for £64.99 but is now back up to £85 in most places so I will wait to find it at £65 again.
On the way back from Chester we dropped in on my Dad who lives near Shrewsbury, which was fun but tiring as it felt like every 10 minutes I was having to defend Ryan from Molly who just loves him so much she has to stroke him a bit too hard on his head and put her fingers in his mouth because he licks them (which I don't mind, but she was nearly making him retch!) and their new mad dog which wouldn't let me through the kitchen.
Then we came home and we have finally got our little kitten! His name is Bernard (Black) because he is all black, and he has got the same birthday as Ryan so he is 3 months old. He was the last one so he is used to being on his own which is good as we have to shut him out of the bedroom at night. He settled in straight away and has a brilliant time playing with all of Ryan's toys... and trying to climb up the sloped bannisters! (he has fallen off once, he seems ok though.)
Ryan is just full of wind. I think I might be eating too much chocolate (caffeine)! He also was quite unsettled by the change of us going away and has been difficult to settle at night. I might get him some baby vicks stuff as he is 3 months now because he has been snuffly from birth, poor thing :(
