GF is taking this week off so we're both on vacation.  On Sunday, we thought we'd take a drive -because we can do that now- to this place near Rochester that a friend was telling me about.  It's called Genesee Country Living Musuem and it's a nice little day trip from our house.

The whole place is set up like a country village from a century ago.  Some of the building were actually from the late, 1700's.  And of course they had lots of people in period costumes conducting tours and performing the daily jobs just as if they were the actual residents.

Here are some pictures to check out:

This man is trying to sell Castor Oil to children, but he got no takers!!

Basket makers cabin from the late 1700's

The basket maker told us some great stories!
(I just love the sepia effect!!)

The cooper's cabin is a very important place because they make beer steins!

A place to use the beer steins!
(although women weren't allowed in there at the time ---hhhmmmmppphhh!!!!)

The one-room school house (of course I'M gonna include a picture of that!!)

Inside a family's home......150 years ago

dining room -notice the "play pen" by the fire place

A wealthy family's front parlor -love that "horny" chair

A woman's work is never done.........still!
