Beta: Livejournal v.90 update is on beta

This is a translation of this post made by igrick.

Folks, Livejournal v.90β is out today. Everyone is welcome to try it out and test it. As usual, a reminder: to participate in beta-testing you have to join the lj_ru_beta (translator's note: see the instructions here) community and then turn the beta state on at the special page.

So, the most notable changes in v.90 are the following.

* Ability to create time-delayed posts.
For example, you write your post today, but it will published next Thursday at 10 am. Because of that the mechanism of "sticky posts" (the ones that always appear above all entries in a journal) was changed: there's now a special checkbox for them. See screenshots:

To create a time-delayed post simply select any date in the future.

To create a sticky post check the Make sticky post checkbox. There can only be one sticky post in a journal, so if you check this checkbox for another entry, it will replace the current sticky post.

To prevent this entry from showing up on friendslists and RSS feeds, check the Do not add to friends lists and RSS checkbox.

As you can see, the "time out of date" option was split into two: before you had to select a date in the future and check Time out of date checkbox if you wanted to have a sticky post.

* A placeholder for videos and pictures in posts, friendlists and comments
You can click on the placeholder to see what's there (as it's implemented in Livejournal.app).

Placeholders could be set up separately for pictures and video and for posts, friendslist and comments (translator's note: the setting could be found here).

This is what it will look like:

This option was suggested in comments, by the way, by someone present an the "Nye-petcha-kutcha" party in November.

(translator's note: please note that in comments the placeholder will be collapsed like this:

)

* We've changed the procedure for token purchasing.
You no longer need to add tokens to your shopping cart in increments of 3000. We're also moving to a fixed exchange rate: it will always be 1:100. So 100 tokens will always cost $1 regardless of the amount of tokens you're buying.

(translator's note: tokens can be purchased here. What they've added is a sliding scale.)

For now the maximum amount of tokens that could be purchased in beta is 65000.

* The username.livejournal.com/latest link will always redirect to the latest entry in the journal.
Useful for bookmarking.

* Spoiler tag.
Now you can hide text under the spoiler tag. This text will be hidden by default and readers will have to click it to see. For example, if you're planning to tell the ending of a movie in your post or comment but want to give your reader an option to not see it.

This could be done with a tag ([Who did it?] The butler did it!) or via button in the Rich Editor:

* LJ Rating on the main page now has 25 entries, not 20 as it was before.

As usual, there are many bugfixes and suchlike, but I won't dwell on that.

This time feel free to switch the channel - but only to beta.
