Summary: After a family tragedy causes Jacob to be raised by his sister Rebecca in Hawaii a family situation forces him to come back to Forks at age 16. Can you ever really return home again?
Author's Note: None.
Edward drifted from class to class bored out of his mind. Normally, every once in a while he would listen in on his fellow classmates thoughts. Not so much as to be nosy but more to help pass the time. Life became tedious when you knew all the answers in the textbooks and the worksheets. Twentieth century history was especially easy when you lived through most of the events firsthand. Sometimes he dreaded being turned at the age of seventeen. Finding yourself physically frozen in time, at the prime of youth. Not a child or a boy but never truly being considered a full grown and legal man by society standards. By nature he was old enough to have lived a good full life almost, a great great grandfather having died warm in his bed surrounded by family.
Edward had zoned out Mr.Saltzer, his history teacher has he droned on about the cold war. Forks high educational standards were not on par with some of the other schools in the state or country for that matter. Though Edward and his siblings had attended better that had also attended worse. Though he sometimes preferred moving to places that allowed home schooling or places remote enough to not have schooling at all.
Honestly they should have at least have been done with the cold war and into early nineties world issues. Even the A.P classes at Forks left much desired.
Looking down at his notebook Edward feigned taking notes has he began to pick up thoughts here and there from his classmates:
A girl with long black hair and a magenta streak in some a well worn band t shirt was lamenting on how dreary the sky was. Edward face broke into a small grin. It was always the ones who acted like they hated anything sunny were the first ones to hate drab days like these.
A boy in the seat ahead of him was thinking about his chances at asking Jessica Stanley to junior prom. Another student was thinking about prom as well. In fact, most of the students seemed to be thinking about either senior or junior prom.
Edward scowled and ran a hand through his perpetually messy bronze locks. He had attended prom once. At Carlisle’s and Esmees’ insistence. In 1971. Alice had been his date having not attended school in that town spending most of her time with Jasper who still found it hard to be around that many people.
Alice had a wonderful time. Edward on the other hand found himself sitting at a table despite Alice trying to get him to dance. She eventually bounced off into the crowd her vampiric grace helping her dance better than most of the human teens.
Edward was snapped out of his thoughts has a notebook was pushed towards him. Bella’s cursive splayed across the page.
‘Penny for your thoughts? You almost look more miserable than when you first sniffed me out in class.’
Edward quickly jotted down a response.
‘Just bored is all Bella. That and everyones thoughts keep going to prom. Don’t kids these days have anything important to think about?’
He slide the notebook back across the table. Bella raised a dark eyebrow before writing something.
‘Proms the big event for most normal high school kids. Even the kids who hate school ultimately have to make the big decision of going or skipping it. For some it’s bigger than graduation.
Edward read Bella’s response and quickly replied.
‘Nice to see what todays youth considers priority one.
Bella smirked and wrote her pen quickly darting across the page.
‘Todays youth? I keep forgetting despite appearances your old enough to have fathered my father. Or maybe even have been his granddad.’
Edward turned to eye Bella before responding.
‘Father, yes but not grandfather. I’m not that old you whipper-snapper.’
Bella shook her head and wrote.
‘You just used whipper-snapper. You are ancient. Point proven.’
Before Edward could write something else the bell rung. Lunch was next at least he could sit with his siblings and Bella.
Jacob was honestly having an okay day. He had breezed through auto tech and had even shown Mr. Salvatore a few things on the engine blocks they were assigned to in group. The day was almost over checking his schedule again he noticed he had lunch and the gym and then the day was over. He had told Bella he would just meet her by the truck. One of the Cullen’s was in his auto class. The big one....”Emmet, yeah.” Jacob recalled as he made his way to the lunch room.
“Hey Jacob, over here.” Jacob looked over to see Bella at a table already and she wasn’t alone. Next to her was a rather petite looking girl with ivory skin and a pixie esque bob cut. Jacob noticed that she seemed to be staring at him intensly as if she were deep in thought.
Jacob made his way over to the table has he got closer he noticed that the other girl who was studying him like he was a lab specimen happened to have the same eyes has both Edward and Dr.Cullen.
‘Sister.’ Jacob thought immediately.
“Hey Bells, how’s your day been so far?” Jacob dropped his backpack on top of the gleaming plastic lunch table and took a seat.
Bella shrugged “Oh you know, not much, the same as any other day here...Oh yeah! Jacob this is Alice Cullen, she slightly motioned to the other girl at the table. The other girl golden hazel eyes softened as a small smirk came to her lips and stuck out her hand as she spoke.
“I’m Alice Cullen, nice to meet you Jacob Black!” She had an enthusiastic if light voice.
Jacob took her hand and gave it a quick shake noting the coolness of her skin.
“You know my name?” Jacob looked at her trying to study her without, at least he hoped without seeming totally obvious.
“HmmMm.” Alice nodded “Bella’s mentioned you a few times before, the friend she had in Forks when she was a kid before you both moved away. That and the fact that our dad is your Dads doctor. Oh yeah and you were kinda passed out in our dad’s home office a few days ago.” Alice gave him a small smile.
“Well, Alice Cullen it’s nice to meet you formally, well at least not all dirty and half out of it .” Jacob opened up his backpack and pulled out his lunch sack. Rebecca and Rachel may have completely different personalities and goals but they did have one thing in common: Cooking.
“Want a cookie or something?” He motioned between Bella and Alice.
“No thanks.” Alice replied “I’m trying to lay of extra sweets.”
Jacob grinned at her “Well you look perfect, don’t tell me your worried about a little cookie.”
Alice beamed at Jacobs comment.
“Well with prom in almost three months, it never hurts to stop cutting out the junk food.”
Bella had already reached over and picked up a cookie before standing up.
“Walk me to the line Jake?”
Jacob stood up and followed Bella into the lunch line.
“Alice seems...nice and something else...”
Jacob spoke has Bella picked up a Snapple from the drinks cart. He noticed she nearly dropped the bottle as he finished speaking.
“Woah.” Jacobs hand darted out with surprising quickness catching the class before it shattered on the floor.
“Wow,um I see your reflexes are still sharp as ever. Thanks for the save.” Bella used her hand that wasn’t balancing her tray to push a stray hair out of her face.
“Actually they’ve gotten even better since you last saw me. Thanks to sports and stuff.”
Jacob shrugged still carrying the bottle has Bella dropped a Cesar salad onto her tray and walked towards a tired looking lunch lady to pay.
Bella payed for her lunch has she and Jacob walked back to there table to join Alice.
“What did you mean by ‘something else’ with Alice?”
“Nothing really.” Jacob replied she seems really nice just there’s something intense there also.”
Bella silently let go of a breath she didn’t realize that she had been holding in. Glancing at the table she noticed Jasper had joined Alice, he looked up at Bella and smiled.
“Hey Jake.”
Jacob turned his head to the side and noticed Mike Newton sitting at another table near the windows with a small group. Mike swung his chair around so that he was now seated with the back rest in front of him and leaned forward.
“Hi Mike.” Jacob replied. Jacob noticed Angela and the Asian boy from earlier Eric also seated around
“Hey.” Eric spoke before tossing a skittle into the air to try and catch it with his mouth. Jacob watched has it bounced of his chin and popped to the floor.
“Damn...” Eric poured some into his hand and chucked them into his mouth before chewing.
“So Mike, Angela you know our boy Jacob right?”
Eric spoke through a moutful of candy.
Angela smiled “We have class together.” Angela made a motion to her camera and took a picture of Jacob. “Sorry, it’s for the paper we have this spotlight on new students. We did Bella last semester.”
“Yeah, all that attention, just devastating.” Bella deadpanned.
“So Jacob tell us a few things about you that we can publish. Your from Hawaii right? God I’d kill to live in a place like that. I heard you surf? Any long distance girlfriends back home? Favorite subject, least favorite? Boxers or briefs. You know the basics”
Eric stopped speaking only to try tossing another skittle in the air. He watched as Angela smirked and shook her head.
“God lay off him Yorke.” Mike voice was laced with amusement being new and leaving paradise for a dreary town like this can be traumatizing. Oh and to answer one of your questions yes on the surfing.” Mike took a bite of his pizza.
Eric fixed a curious on Mike.”How would you know?”
Mike chewed thoughtfully and swallowed before speaking up.
“Kelly Slater here can into the store a few days ago and recognized how crappy our stores boards are.”
“Crappy? Seriously? I get my board from there? How could you call them crappy?” Eric balled up his now empty skittle bag and dropped it on his tray.
“Well this isn’t really a surf town so dad doesn't get the greatest boards. It’s not like Hurley or something comes through here looking to recruit. This is more of a hiking, camping town and state. All that equipment is good, or surf stuff, kinda shitty.” Mike shrugged like it was no big deal.
Eric tore of a pepperoni from Mike’s Pizza. “Dude that’s your store and your bad mouthing your own products?” It was more of a statement than a question.
Mike tilted back in his chair “It’s my dad’s store and his products, I’m just his bitch until graduation...god another year of stocking inventory and then it’s adieu to Forks.”
Angela looked at Mike like she was contemplating something while Eric stared at his as if he was growing another head before reaching over and tearing off half of Mike’s slice.
“Hey dude! Get your own.” Mike pulled his tray away from Eric.
“You’re a working man you can afford it.” Eric spoke while stuffing his face.
Edward had came into the lunch room with his usual causal lateness. He saw Alice and Jasper sitting at their usual table along with Bella’s bag. He also noticed another navy blue bag that he wasn’t familiar with. Joining his siblings at the table he picked up the apple off of Jaspers tray and began to roll it back and forth.
“Hello Edward.” Jaspers Texan accented voice carried across the table.
“Jasper, how has your day been so far?” Jasper was the newest to their life style so, every once in a while, during the school day someone would touch base with him.
“It’s been all right, I don’t think I’ll need to go hunting tonight” He wrapped an arm around Alice’s shoulders.
“Alice here tells me that Jacob Black has joined us for lunch. Guess it’s a good thing Rose and Emmet have first lunch this semester huh? Something tells me she’d have more of a fit than when Bella started joining us for lunch.”
Edward grinned then scanned the lunch room for Bella. Despite having a small student body, the lunch room at Forks was pretty spacious.
A familiar scent, her scent which use to draw such confusing stirrings in him told her she was at the end of the lunch room near the windows. He caught sight of her standing and making conversation with Angela, Mike and Eirc. Jacob was right next to her.
Edward continued to watch has Eric continued to grossly toss back candy and try to catch it with his mouth and talk at the same time. As if sensing him Bella looked up and smiled nodding to Jacob as she turned and walked back to the Cullen’s table.
“Hello Bella.” Edward pulled her chair out for her as she thanked him and sat.
“What no chair pull for me?” Edwards’ lips twitched has Jacob Black came up to the table pulling out his own seat. He began to look at everyone else but Jacob.
“Jeez, I was just kidding with you Cullen.” Jacob replied noticing Edward’s awkwardness.
“I’ll have you know I get my own chairs and doors as well.”
“That’s fine. Um I apologize I’m not the biggest jokester of my family.” Edward began to roll his apple back and forth again.
“You could say our brother’s old fashioned.” Alice replied a slight smirk playing on her lips.
Edward graced her with a pointed look out of the corner of his eyes.
“Jacob how has your day been so far?” Edward asked.
Jacob shrugged before taking a bite from his sandwich.
“It’s been alright, kinda tired of doing the new-kid song and dance in each class.”
“Well what your next class?” Alice asked her head on Jasper’s shoulder.
“Uh gym. Looking forward to it actually. What about you all?”
“Well Edward and I have biology.” Bella answered.
“I have European Lit.” Alice replied.
“Study hall.” Jasper finished up Jacob’s inquiry, running a hand through his wild wavy hair.
The bell rung signaling the end of their lunch period.
Edward stood up and gathered Bella’s trash before walking over to the nearby bin and dropping it in.
“Hey, I know! The gym is across below Bella and Edward’s class. Why don’t you guys walk him over? Edward?” Alice turned to look at her brother. She watched has Edward’s eyebrows raised into his hair line slightly.
Rachel Black walked into the education building on the campus of Port Angeles Community. It was usually were she could be found, if not here then the undergrad library.
The campus seemed quieter today than usual she had noticed has she made her way to her class. She was worried that she would be late after having to drop of Billy at his therapy appointment, he had been cranky today and getting him out of the house took more prodding than usual. She had gone a little over the speed limit to make it on time.
Turning around the corner she saw two other students heading her way.
“Hey Rachel, classes are canceled today, probably for the rest of the week. Dustin and I just talked to the police.” A petite auburn haired girl called out to her.
“Hi Lila, why what’s happening?” asked Rachel adjusting her text laden tote bag on her shoulder.
Another student with caramel colored skin and brown hair spoke first. “Professor Summers is missing.”
“What? What do you mean?” Rachel asked concern and curiosity washing over her.
The boy spoke again. “Yeah, apparently he never came home last night. And get his neither did Lauren.”
“ Have they heard anything at all?” Rachel replied.
Personally she wasn’t a fan of Lauren, no one really was in their classes. She kissed almost all of her professor asses and flirted with Professor Summers all term.
The auburn haired girl spoke again. “Well, according to her roommate, Lauren was coming in Saturday to talk to Summers during his office hours. For ‘tutoring’.” She made air quotes as she carried on.
“Her roomie thought that she finally got lucky and just didn’t sleep at home Saturday night. Then she never came home Monday and then Mr.Summers wive called the school looking for him as well.”
Dustin continued on for Lila “Yeah well the whole faculty and even some of the students know that Mrs.Summers is a total raving bitch and their marriage had been shaky for a while. The police think that Mr.Summers finally took Lauren up on her offer and ran off together.”
“I think something else happened though.” Lila interjected Mr. Summers car was still in the lot & Lauren doesn't drive. Even if you were to run off would you leave a car that’s only a year old behind? And nothing was missing from his office from what the police could tell and a janitor did see Lauren come into the building on Saturday. It might even have something to do with that kid he went missing last week from one of the Port high schools.”
“Seriously? You think they’re connected? High school kids run off all the time. Lord knows I gave my parents a scare once or twice.” Dustin pulled his keys from his pocket.
“Well this kid was an honor student and a J.V baseball player...kinda polar opposite of you...” Lila replied sarcastically.
“Hey, that hurts...” Dustin told her “So no class this week. The dean of students is supposed to send out an e-mail to all of Mr.Summers students tonight so we all go home today.”
“That’s horrible. I hope they find that kid and I hope those two just decided to run off. You guys want to walk out together?” Rachel asked.
“Sounds like a plan.” Lila told her has the three made there way to the parking lot and into their cars.
Edward and Bella sat in there last period biology class watching a video on cellular regeneration in certain species of the animal kingdom. Again he wasn’t really paying too much attention. Even with the changes and discovers in science over the decades it all came pretty easy too him.
Half of the class was either taking notes, the sounds of pens and pencils scrapping across paper. The other half were thinking about prom and summer. Normally on video days he and Bella would take turns sliding a peice of paper back and forth between each other. Today Bella was one of the students writing down notes as well.
Turning his attention out the window he spotted that despite the grayish skies that final gym class of the day had taken to the field. He spotted one figure in paticular stretching out on the grass.
Jacob was the first one into the gym has a short woman in a track jacket and shorts emblazoned with the Forks Eye emblem on them approached him.
“Jacob Black right? I’m Mrs. Kempinsky” She looked down at a clip board in her hands.
“Yeah, that’s me.” Jacob nodded his head.
“Come to my office and I’ll get you a t-shirt and some shorts. We don’t really have a full gym dress code. Just make sure whatever you wear you can work out in. The school provides you with two shirts and a pair of shorts. We spend one week on certain exercises the next week is a free week for you to do whatever activity you want. This week is track and field. Lockers rooms that way. ” She pointed to a set of double doors towards the back.
Has Jacob got nearer the locker room he swore he could smell it from this side of the door.
“Oh yeah and Jacob you can take locker seventeen. Did you bring your lock? If not you can change up and leave your stuff in my office.”
“I remembered thanks anyway.” Jacob called out has he pushed his way past the double doors that lead into the locker room.
The smell of the room hit him first, he had taken gym last semester at his old school so he was used to the way a group of guys could smell after physical activity. For some reason this however hit him harder than usual. It was a mixture of heavy cleaners, soap and sweat.
Bunching up his nose he made his way down the isles until he found his locker in the back dumping his backpack he began to get changed. Has he finished pulling on the shorts and tee he heard the doors open again followed by a choures of male voices. Laughter and shouts and the slams of lockers followed.
“Hey Jacob my man whats up.” Jacob looked up to see Eric opening up the locker behined him. “You should have told us you had gym last, you could have walked with us.”
“Well, maybe if you told me you told me you had gym also I would have mentioned it. And who’s ‘us?’ “
“Us is me.” Jacob saw Mike walk over to the locker next to Jacob and spun the dial around before popping open his locker.
“So Jake I know you’re good in the water but how well are you at land sports?” Mike asked before he began stripping off and throwing his clothes into his locker.
“I can hold my own pretty well.” Jacob replaced up his gym shoes. Has he glanced at Mike’s body has the blond boy pulled a grey shirt over his head. He decided that Mike did have a plus in the physically attractive column. Despite his baby face he was toned with a flat tight stomach. There was a small birthmark near is navel that led to a sparse dirty blond treasure trail that vanished down into low slung navy blue track pants. Jacob quickly brought his eyes up the other boys chest which was nicely tones as well, his nipples a tan darker color than the rest of his skin, slightly hard from the chill in the locker room. Mikes chest disappeared from view has his shirt fell into place and Jacob had already made sure to look elsewhere before Mike had caught him checking him out.
The last thing he needed was to be dubbed the “fag” at school.
“Well come on then you can follow us to the field.” Eric nodded his head to a door the other boys were heading out of.
Edward did not know what was happening. He might be considered a socially oblivious to certain things according to his family but even when he was alive he had been a master of multi-tasking. And multi-tasking pretty well near perfect. Usually he could follow what the teacher was saying, stray thoughts of his classmates, and pass notes to Bella with perfect ease.
Today, in this hour he found his perfect control broke by Jacob Black. The boy was currently stretching out on the field. His naturally tanned legs on display has Jacob did hurdler stretches before going into splits.
Edward couldn’t help himself, could not tear his gaze away. He knew what he was doing was invasive. Somehow he found it more obscene than watching someone sleep.
He continued to watch has Eric and Angela pointed at Jacob while he continued to hold his split before standing up and bending over to grab the back of his ankles. The nylon of his track shorts stretching taut.
“You have a nice ass...”
“Hmm what did you say.” Bella had stopped taking notes to turn and whisper to Edward.
‘Oh hell!’ Edward thought he hadn’t realized he had spoken out.
“I, um I said Mrs.Kempinsky has the class out on the track.” Edward replied in has calm a voice as possible.
“Lucky I had gym last semester. I’d be a real disaster trying to run and jump.” Bella replied has she went back to jot down something else their teacher said.
“I can see Jacob. I think he’s with Mike,Eric and Angela.” Edward said.
“Good he has someone else in class with him.” Bella tucked her hair back.
“Do you want to come over today?”
Bella shook her head “I have to drop off Jacob at home. Do you feel like coming by my place. Don’t worry Charlie’s working late tonight.”
“Fine, sounds good Bella.”
Edward returned his attention out the window has he watched has Jacob run around the track with a group of his classmates.
The boy was fast. Really fast Edward realized has his golden eyes followed Jacob gracefully pull well ahead of the rest of the students. He wasn’t even really breaking that much of a sweat.
Jacob’s group finished their mile around the track. The track was small so they had to go around four times to equal that mile and he had stayed ahead of everyone that whole time.
“Christ Black you half cheetah or something?” Eric came staggering up panting heavily, his face flushed and sweaty.
“Half wolf actually.” Jacob joked and grinned before lifting up his shirt to wipe off the sweat trailing down his face.
Angela who was stretching out for the girls go around the track smiled.
“Your Quilete right? I’ve heard about the urban legends that your people are descendant from wolves.” She smiled at Jacob “Maybe some of it’s true.”
Jacob pulled a small black elastic off his wrist before tying his hair back. “Maybe, it kinda suck though. I have enough on my mind without needing to howl at every full moon and terrorize campers.”
Just then Mrs. Kempisnky called out for the girls to take their places.
“Good luck Angela.”
“Thanks Jacob.” Angela walked over to join the other girls.
“That was pretty sweet man, you think about joining track or something? Mike asked
Unlike Eric and mostly everyone else Jacob Black decided that sweaty worked for Mike Newton. His blue eyes seemed to spark and his face had a nice blush to it. Mike took a deep swig of his water bottle before motioning it to Jacob.
“Want some?”
“I’m good, thanks anyway.
“You sure? I figured you be thirsty after that speed run. I swear I don’t have cooties or anything. Unless that wolf thing is true and you can infect me by swapping spit or do you have fleas” He smiled.
“Thanks anyway but I’m good, If anything I should be worried about anything I catch from you. You dated Jessica from what I hear. Also, swapping spit with a werewolf wont harm you and I don’t half fleas” Jacob’s narrowed his eyes.
“You got me there on Jessica. Biggest mistake of my high school career she’s so demanding and needy.” Mike took another swig before taking the bottle and dumping the rest over his head. Jacob watched has the water spilled down Mike plastering his dirty blond hair to his skull, drops clinging to his eye lashes has the rest spilled down his shirt.
The girls finished has the teacher called out the three boys with the best time to run again. Which included Jacob, Mike had came in fourth. Has Jacob walked over to get ready to run again Mike called out to him.
“That’s good.”
“What is?” Jacob turned around to look at MIke and walked backwards.
“That you don’t have fleas and can’t make me join your wolf coven by trading spit.”
Mikes face smirked before walking over to join Eric on the bleachers.
Edward had watched the whole back and forth between Jacob and Mike.
He didn’t need a vampires sensitive hearing to make out that Mike seemed to be flirting with Jacob. He then reached out with his telepathy to read Newton’s mind. He knew he would just get static again with Jacob but Mike’s mind was opening for the reaping.
‘Man he’s hot. He’s witty not to mention athletic. Jeez his abs when he lifted his shirt...’ Edward found himself getting pissed at Mike’s train of thoughts. Edward had his pen, a Monte Blanc he has received from Carlisle upon his first high school graduation in his hand he had been using to take faux notes. The metal always cool no matter how long he held it.
It was Mikes last thoughts that had Edwards stomach in knots.
‘Maybe I should ask him out this weekend? No, too soon. Maybe take his to La Push beach next weekend. Could ask him for some good surf tips take the jeep bring a blanket...’
The antique metal ballpoint pen, pure silver was crushed in his grip as he let out a small growl.
“Edward are you feeling well?” Bella looked over at him concern all over her face.
“Yeah sorry about that.” Edward looked around the room. Thankfully no one else noticed.
“I just picked up on one of the jocks thoughts in the back row. He wants to ask you to prom but dancing unfortunately, is the last thing on his mind.”
Bella tucked her hair again before turning to look at the back of the class. Three boys she knew on the football team who weren’t paying attention at all were talking amongst themselves. One in a letter jacket looked at her. Bella quickly turned her head back to Edward.
“Thanks for the warning.”
Edward watched has the gym teacher called out for everyone to pack it in and turned and headed back into the gym, Jacob’s form slipping into the doors leading to the locker room.
Jacob showered and changed clothes quickly has possible. They had the last twenty minutes of class to get themselves ready to go home.
Mike came around to his locker a towel wrapped around his waist.
“Hey track star. You survived your first day at Forks High. Congrats.”
Mike opened his locker and pulled out his boxers before pulling them on under his towel.
“It was passable. For a first day that is.”
Jacob shook out his wet hair.
“So Jacob can I e-mail you those questions for the paper?” Eric asked has he finished getting dresses.
Jacob sighed to himself. Honestly he didn’t want to do it and while Eric seemed slightly annoying he had still been friendly.
“Yeah, sure send them my way. When do you need a response?”
Eric picked up his backpack “ As soon as possible would be nice. I mean, the paper won’t go the the printers until this weekend and won’t be back until Wednesday but the sooner the better.”
Jacob stood up with his own backpack slung over his shoulder.
He watched Mike zip up his hoodie sans shirt underneath has he grabbed his bag.
“Well let’s get out of here. We’re free men, at least until 7:30 tomorrow morning.”
Bella stood at her truck parked next to Edwards volvo has she waited for Jacob to head out of the school.
“So what time should I expect you?” she asked the vampire leaning against her car. His siblings had already pulled out of the lot.
“Around five, I wanted to go see Carlisle.” Edward pulled on his sunglasses.
“You sure your all right? You still seem tense.”
Edward ran a hand through his messy hair. “You worry too much Bella, I just didn’t like his thoughts is all.” It was partially the truth, the boy in question had been thinking about Bella though nothing obscene. It was Newton who set him on edge.
Just then a gust of fresh spring wind picked up carrying an intoxicating scent in it. It drew his attention to Jacob walking out the doors of the high school. His hair was wet obviously post shower after gym. It seemed to have been magnified from the gym activity. Despite the shower Edward could still smell a little of the sweat on Jacob. Instead of being repulsed he found it drawing him in. Primal. Raw. Hot. It was a mixture of Jacobs real natural scent without the smell of antiseptic from Carlisle’s office. Or the scent of food the night he ran into him at the diner. This was all pure unfiltered Jacob Black. If Edward’s heart still beat it would have hammered right out of his chest.
Jacob said something to Mike and Eric has he walked towards Bella and the other two boys walked to Eric’s car.
“Hey Bella.” Jacob put an arm around Bella’s shoulder. It took Edward all his self control and care for Bella not to snarl at her and fling her away.
“You ready to go Jake?”
“You read my mind.” Looking over he saw Edward. “Hey Cullen, see you tomorrow.”
Jacob was just a standing on the other side. He was so close Edward didn’t need another breeze to get him feeling heated again. Jacobs raven hair was still slightly damp, it hung in loose waves around his shoulders. Edward found himself wanting to run his fingers through it. Too see if it was as silky and thick has it really looked. He wanted to hold onto while his mouth ravaged the younger mans.
Edwards lips bunched into a thin line.
“See you then Black.” with that he got into his car and sped off.
Looking down has he came to a light he noticed something he hadn’t had in decades. Edward was hard in his designer jeans. Painfully, achingly deliciously hard. He drove home as carefully and as fast as possible.
Pulling into the garage he noted his siblings were already home. Hoping they were all in their own rooms he walked into the house trying to place his leather messenger bag in front if him.
“Hey Edward.” Emmet called out lifting his head to smile at him.
‘Damn!’ Edward thought. Emmet and Rosalie were in the living room on the couch Jaspers head in her lap. Alice was on the love seat with Jasper. He saw Alice look up at him with something in her expression. Jaspers eyes had darkened with what Edward knew was confusion and lust.
“Ew, I can smell traces of the semi-mutt on you.” Rosalie wrinkled her nose.
“For the first and last time Rose, his name is Jacob and he. Is. Not. A. Mutt”
“Whatever you say Edward.” Rosalie continued to run her hand through his dark curls.
With that Edward walked upstairs to his room as casually, if quickly as possible.
After a moment from hearing Edwards door close Emmet broke the silence.
“Dudes Edward was totally full mast. -Ow!”
Rosalie’s hand that had been rubbing his head seconds ago had slapped him on the top of his head.
