"Mina-chan! Breakfast!" Right on time after putting perfume almost everywhere on my body. I curse my OCD* symptoms, I don't like fixing myself but when I feel it's not perfect, I still fix myself from top to bottom. It wasn't really necessary but...you know what happens if you live in a fuchsia-colored. Expecting things to be clean everytime so it would be extra girly.
Once I was set, I put my school bag in my shoulders and my car keys. Though I was still on high school, I really wanted to drive my own car so I was unexpectedly given my own license but it was fine since I was already 18 anyway. But I am yet to be given my own car so when I go to school, they let me borrow their van. I was never given weird looks from my schoolmates because they knew about my reputation in school.
I'm an artist. No, not like those idols. Like a REAL artist. I was always assigned to make signs or such in school for extra points. Honestly it sucks so much. I love to sketch unfinished lines to make a picture of something unimaginable and to paint to experiment with colors. But never in my life would I draw a person because I can't draw a real person for the reason that if I wanna draw something, I want to have my feelings on it or else the finished picture will be ugly. Though there were request coming from the school about those things, I will simply decline it with an excuse for me to make them think I'm a busy person.
"Eat quickly Mina-chan, you might catch early morning traffic." My mom spoils me okay? Even my dad because I was the only daughter of the family and hating to admit it, the youngest. I'm surprised that I'm still thin despite the fact that my mom places a lot of food in front me.
"Mom, this is a lot. I might be late if I finish everything." I said while already munching down on my oatmeal.
"You don't need to finish everything Mi-chan, I want you to have a heavy stomach so you can think clearly in school." She smiled while she poured hot chocolate on my mug. Thank god I don't drink brewed coffee. Or else the food won't be appetizing.
"Thanks kaachan~" I purred at her. Then my watch beeped, meaning it's already 6:00 am. I needed a lot of food so I got one bite of everything my mom cooked for me. "Bye okaachan, you can eat this if you want." I kissed her goodbye then I suddenly remember something. "Hey mom, when are you going to that art school I'm really eager to enter?"
"I'm leaving later once your bro---I mean, my son will go home early. You'll come home late again?" She asked.
"Well--" I felt a bump on my shoulder, like someone bumped in front of me but I couldn't see who did it. "I'll come home after school when I have no commitments after school, okay?" I ran out of the house when I already put on my shoes. "Ittekimasu!" I ran to the garage and coincidentally see my bro--mom's son.
"Ohayou Mi-chan, need a ride?" He showed a forced smile but I simply just passed by him just to enter my car. When I entered my car, I told him without look at his eyes. "Sorry but I don't ride with delinquents. Especially you, Okura-san." I never bothered looking at his expression when I said that so I simply ignited the engine and I raised the automatic garage door. I opened the window to look at the guy before I leave. "Also don't call me Mi-chan. Only my parents can call me that." I drove off once I got out of the garage safely.
It was the really a heavy traffic morning alright. But I don't mind though. The distance from my house to my school is like 20-30 minutes without any traffic. I stopped taking public transportation because I hated crowded places and I always get late because of it that's why driving myself to the school is the only solution this problem. But it made me look like a college student though.
After two more stops thanks to the stoplights, I arrived at my school. I parked near the pavement because there weren't that much parking space in the school plus it's reserved to the faculty only but sometimes the faculty are generous to let me park at their space. My school isn't a really big school. Sure I learn a lot from the teachers, but it's still fine. I still maintain my grades but I'm not aiming to have above-average grades. I really lack balance to be honest. That's why I only focus on arts.
Okay, since you know I'm currently in high school. You are probably wondering, are there any ikemens in this school? Gosh, Osaka has tons of ikemens but this is just from my perspective. Besides, I never been to Tokyo yet. Also, the ikemens we preferred are active and popular at the same time.
In our school, we have our own band and yes, they're the ikemens. They're named Eight Sunshines. Cheesy name right? It's Japan so, whatever. Though they're called Eight Sunshines, they're actually seven of them. They were once 8 but one of them transferred to Tokyo. They initially wanted to change the name to Seven but they kept the name for their former member's sake.
To start off, let's begin with the lead vocalist Shibutani Subaru. Subaru-senpai is always recognizable because he always sports a goatie beard and his voice classification, full of Vibrato. His voice is so annoying if he goes full Vibrato. That's why I think he is suited for Rock music, and not Pop. He occasionally plays guitar and he's really hot-tempered.
Next is Nishikido Ryo, the second guitarist. He was my classmate when we were still in elementary. I remember he was really tiny then when I saw him again in high school, I'm so surprised that he gotten much more taller and more matured. He's quite creepy when were still in elementary, I'm not sure if he still carry his creepiness though. He's also the main vocalist and I like Ryo's voice more though.
This dude that kinda looks like Aiba-senpai from afar but he really looks like a....gorilla. Murakami Shingo, but the school always call him Hina. I don't know why they call Murakami-senpai Hina though. He's the keyboardist but he loves order in the group. He's the school's prefect so everyone is almost afraid of him. If someone does something stupid, he would whack them in the head.
The tallest member of the group is Ohkura Tadayoshi. Honestly I don't wanna talk about him but to describe him in one phrase, he doesn't give a fuck about anything but himself. He's also the drummer of the group. Period.
Yasuda Shota, the one who sports brightly-colored hair and he changes it in every three months. And I'm quite surprised no one ever caught him yet. Probably because Murakami-senpai is part of the group and the grown-ups are also afraid of Murakami-senpai. He was the resident fashionista of the group, the lead guitarist and secretly, he's my childhood friend and until now, we still remain as friends but I decided to keep it low profile when we entered high-school. He always goes to our house so my parents always welcome him for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Yasu-kun is quite gay that's why he is the only one I get along in the band.
If you want to ask me who is the most annoying in the group, that's the bassist Maruyama Ryuhei. He keeps on showing his weird expression to almost everyone and it annoys me so much. We're here to learn, not to be entertained by some band member who is actually a comedian. He even greets everyone with loud-pitched "OHAYOU~~~~~". So this dude is like the abomination in the school. Though people find his greeting a happiness booster, to me it's just a way to ruin a quiet morning. Good thing he's not in my class last year though. I heard he was too noisy.
And lastly the leader of the group. The oh-so-clever Yokoyama Kimitaka. But he never liked being called Kimitaka so everyone almost calls him Yoko or Yu. But I like Yoko more. He plays the percussion of the group but sometimes I don't hear his bongos if everyone is playing. Yoko-senpai may be lazy but he is smart in his own way. And he sometimes give wise words to everyone. He thinks out-of-the-box in some situations. And to be honest, his skin beats every girl in this school.
Yoko looks like the group's bad boy though the title is only for Ryo-chan. He was the reason why I still keep myself going in this school. He is the reason for me to stay here though I don't like it here anymore. Yoko may look scary too but he's really shy and gets embarrassed easily. I remember when I first talked to Yoko.
The art room was occupied during free time and I have to do my unfinished artwork so I went to the rooftop to finish it. I tried to continue the artwork on the rooftop but the brush I had doesn't look fine. It was ruined....by those people in the art room. It was my paintbrush but I put it in my usual place. I literally exploded at that day because it was my first paintbrush that I bought and use. I was so angry that I threw it from the roof.
"ITAI!!"
I heard a loud cry from below. I looked down slowly and I saw a black-haired guy with pale white skin, holding his forehead. It landed on someone I didn't expected to be. The leader of the school band.
"WHO'S THERE?!" He looked up and he caught me staring at him. He looked really pissed so I think he's marching to the rooftop quickly. For the first time, I panicked on what to do. I heard about the reputation of the school band. Most of the members are hot-headed and they tend to get physical if they're really pissed off. There is only two options right now. Run away or confront this dude.
I thought of running away but it was already too late. The guy earlier bursted out from the door. I faced at the opposite direction, not letting him see my face.
"Why the hell would you throw me a paintbrush?!" He screamed.
"Please. I already have enough shit to deal with." The guy looked confused when I said that. Soon I face myself to the guy. I looked at the guy's face carefully. He's actually pretty. "Well, do you want to hit me? Be my guest." I gave my usual pokerface expression to the guy and it seems that he calmed down.
"Hey I'm just asking why. I don't like to use my fists to solve these problems." His voice became soft and he slowly approached me. "So that's how the stone-hearted artist looks like up close." He chuckled.
"You're weird. I'm off. Sorry for accidentally throwing the paintbrush to you." I bowed and took the stairs back to my classroom. How the hell did he compose himself after he got pissed off? He's so weird.
Few days after the incident, I find myself in the rooftop again. But instead of painting, I decided to sketch anything that's on my mind right now. Just when I was about to erase a mistake I made, a paintbrush that looked just like the one I threw to the guy, landed on top of my sketchpad.
"I think I know why you were pissed off. So I restored it." I held the brush he gave to me. I never believed at first but from one touch, I was surprised. It's really my brush. They never cleaned it but the hair looked good as new.
"You don't need to restore it. I could always buy another one." I never looked at his eyes when I said that because I was busy playing with the hair.
"Sometimes the toughest fighters needed help." He said softly, and that made my heart skip a beat. Wait, my heart?
When I was about thank him, the bell rang already meaning that lunch was over.
"Matta ne, Mina-chan." He patted my head and he was about to go back until..
"Chotto! Namae wa nanda?" I said in a low voice.
He smiled brightly, looking like his day is brighten. "Yokoyama Kimitaka desu. You can call me Yoko."
