I'm still shaking... It was so much fun, but wow it was intense...
I'm going to talk about what was the most fun/crazy/intense Fafnir fight I've been in first, before I get on to the other things that have been going on. :)
This update will be about the Fafnir fight, quick update on CoP progress, Breeze Gorget tests, and some other misc stuff.
It's a bit of a story, but here it goes....
It starts off with a handful of people in our LS gathered in Dragon's Aery, along with 2-3 people from Galleon (another HNM LS camping Fafnir), and more from both linkshells on the way. Fafnir happens to pop on the first window with almost no one there, and we accidently claim it... We didn't have enough to even attempt to hold, so they all had to Teleport-Dem.;;
Shortly after this I arrived, followed by Lhexh (who was currently playing on Seoul's level 75 RDM)... With Fafnir now sitting unclaimed, it was just me and him in Dragon's Aery from our linkshell, while Galleon had a group of about 5 people together at the time and more closing in. After discussing it briefly in the LS, we both got ready and engaged Fafnir just before Galleon went for it... We started it as NIN and RDM/WHM.
A majority of the linkshell was still in the Boyahda Tree/Sanctuary of Zitah/home nations, so we had to hold it until the others arrived... Ended up holding the big thing for 10 minutes until other people started to arrive. It was so crazy. :o
I put on all the evasion gear I had (forgot to eat blind potions though ;;), and tanked it spamming debuffs/ninjutsu while Lhexh did his best to debuff/keep me hasted/cured... It was so nerve wrecking and intense... I was just barely getting off Utsesumi in time to keep shadows up, and against what I first thought Fafnir has a fast TP regen that I never realized. I figured that we could hold it and as long as I don't take damage it won't spam TP attacks, since it wouldn't get any TP from anywhere, but apparently it's just nonstop TP attacks whenever it wants to... Horror, Absolute Terror, Dragon Breath, it did all of them a bunch of times in the 10 minutes save Hurricane Wing (once). Even with Absolute Terror though we managed to hold it fine. =)
We attempted to damage it just in case GMs were around (which were never even called), but his regen > my ninjutsu + RDM nukes ; ;.. Here is a screen of us holding it:
About 10 minutes later the others finally start to arrive in Dragon's Aery;
First few people to arrive were Jamz (PLD) and Xoimang (WHM).. Then a few minutes later the rest came in within 2-3 minutes of eachother.. It ended up being me and Baudan (NIN) tanking for the rest of the fight up until about 20%, and from there I ended up solo tanking it for most of the remainder.. Until the last few percent when Jamz and Gilgameshdux (PLD) started back up tanking.
I've never felt/experienced anything like that, it was really nerve wrecking but awesome at the same time.. Any little mistake could've got me killed pretty fast, but luckily I managed to pull it off.. We don't normally use NIN on Fafnir/Nidhogg, and the only times we do it was with them back-up tanking.. Going from that to main tank on it is a huge jump, but it was a lot of fun.. Stressful as hell though, don't think I've ever focused so hard on the game before.. lol;;
In full evasion gear and blind potions with Fafnir blinded it's hitrate was actually a lot worse then I thought it could be, I think it dipped as low as maybe 30-50%..
Most it missed me in a row with evasion gear on was 5.. All of that and we still killed in under 60 minutes to avoid the super Fafnir. :)
And... We got great drops to make it all worth it
The feeling I have from holding it with just two people, and then being the main tank for a majority of the fight afterwards, is just indescribable... A great feeling from this game that I've missed. :)

This place is still a mystery :\..
Recently we've been gathering different deeds together.. And going for the items needed to get the 3 new mage capes.. We managed to successfully get one cape, but after trying for another and wasting a good what?.. 8 hours?.. We couldn't get it.
It's so rediculously confusing to pop the NM needed for the cape items, just about anything we speculate about it later ends up wrong/inaccurate.. We got the spawn positions down, how often it pops and how long, and can all get to them fast, but no matter how many times we examine it we'll get "You sense and unknown presence" message... Then completely random out of no where, one person will get a different message that pops the NM. We only had this happen once, after hours and hours of checking under different conditions and clearing the rooms and doing everything we could think of, and couldn't get the message again... ::sigh::
Anyway.. Mostly we've been farming the bitch Jailer of Faith, probably among the hardest of the NMs we've fought.. I posted about him in a previous entry too, he's the Breakga/StonegaIV/QuakeII guy.
We fought it twice, and both times no deed dropped ><... It's getting more aggravating then anything. It's like facing beefed up sky triggers with much more powerful TP attacks and spells that only drop the actual trigger around 30-50% of the time... And are a pain to get to. It's not even much fun anymore, I really think SE went a little too far with this horrible trigger item drop-rate to add on top of the difficulty..
::sigh::
I pulled a Miruka on one of them and got hit by Quake II with no Utsesumi up, doh.... It casts it pretty fast. ><
And Baudan shortly after..
We didn't want Miruka to feel stupid for being the only one to eat that Stone IV from Kirin on NIN, so we did it too on this guy out of sympathy.. yeah, that's it....

After a good 2-3 months of trying to get a gorget, I finally got it..
It takes a really long time to get all the organs together when you're soloing, especially if you don't have any type of TH (usually went /THF because of that).. Probably got like 15k exp in total from farming there, minus 2-3 deaths (damn BLM aerns). The hardest part though was getting the people to fight the NMs, I had all the other organs within 2-3 weeks, but couldn't get an NM fight for a while after.
On top of that, the Ul'Yovra (weaker NMs) have a HORRIBLE drop rate, and were just about the only NMs we could take with our small group... Each kill we had TH and each kill we got nothing, for 9 kills.. Not to mention they take forever to repop, and so once you kill 2 you're basically done. The Om'Yovra are too hard to take without a solid group of people, but they seem to have a close to 100% droprate. A few times we were able to kill the weaker ones without a problem as NIN, BRD, BRD, WHM.. But we couldn't kill the hard ones, it started spamming charm and messing us up, and then it'd regen like crazy. :|
Then for a while, even after getting the 2 NM organs, I was clueless on which method SE uses to activate the latent on the gorget... I've heard it working based on the color next to the icon and based on the possible properties of the weapon skill in a skillchain, after a lot of reading I decided to just go with the skillchain properties. Which also required me to farm a whole new set of organs. -.-
But finally, in the end I got it:
http://img327.imageshack.us/img327/9572/renkei310zl.gif http://www.killingifrit.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=69415 Based on the information from those two links above.. That gorget will work with Slug Shot, Sidewinder, Steel Cyclone, and Blade:Jin.. Need I ask for more? All of my main job's most powerful weapon skills, so it was perfect. :)
Although, I still wasn't certain about the skillchain properties part being correct... So I went out and did a quick test on my RNG.
I went into East Ronfaure as RNG/SAM and tried out slug shot on the little poor and defenseless bunnies... I put the distance plugin on and made sure I was always at the same range for each weapon skill, and kept the same equipment and food on for the entire time; only changed from the Breeze Gorget to a Peacock Charm.
Here are my first 3 slug shots with a Breeze Gorget on:
All three of them hit for 2377.. I was orignally going to try 5 times, but I figured it wouldn't be worth it... It's safe to assume that I would probably still hit for 2377.
Here are the three without the gorget:
All of them without the gorget were lower than before with the gorget.. Although not by much. :|
I could do more testing if asked, but I'm satisfied with what I've seen... It's safe to say it effects it, which would make the skillchain property choice correct.. I'll probably do more messing around with it in the future.

Mostly just pictures from the recent organ farming for the Breeze Gorget, and some of my highest weapon skill damage. >:D
This one beats my old record for highest Blade:Jin on a farming mob, a DC Hpemde that wasn't berserked.. So it still counts. ;D
Then, buried my old 1900 record for the highest overall Blade:Jin (ignoring Boreal hound, lol).. With these two:
Both with just Berserk, Warcry, Bison Steak, and a double attack.. Sylphet was helping me farm, and giving Ballad and March, no attack songs. :D
And within another hour we had a pretty big group of people who were also interested in organs/skill up /exp..
It went pretty good, at one point we got 11 Phaubo organs in a row.. Giving me all I needed for the Breeze Gorget. :)
