TV Meme - Day 7

Nov 07, 2010 23:57

Just like the little girl who had a little curl, when Babylon 5 was good, it was very good, but when it was bad, it was horrid.  That's why I have chosen a top 3 today.

Day 07 - Least favorite episode of your favorite TV show

3.  "Grey 17 Is Missing"

This episode isn't all bad.  It's nice to see Neroon again, even if he is beating up on Marcus, and seeing Delenn become head of the Rangers is at least marginally important to the plot.  Also, I thought Garibaldi made a good point about "thin air".  But what was with the Zarg?  How did they get it on the station?  How did they contain it?  What did it eat?  Also, that dummy was seriously creepy.  Finally, did JMS really expect us to buy that everyone (except Garibaldi, of course) just accepted the fact that there was a whole level of the station missing?

2.  "Infection"

The Babylon File describes this as being like a bad episode of Star Trek.  I can only assume it is referring to "Infection's" zombie-like, cookie-cutter Monster of the Week and its heavy-handed, tacked on moral.  It took me three tries to finally see this episode all the way through.  This was because my friend was taping the episodes for me, and for some reason, both of the first two times it aired, the tape got cut off in the middle.  Finally, I was at a hotel with my family and I discovered that the episode was on.  Despite the fact that my parents didn't like that I was watching B5, I insisted on watching the episode.  Too bad it turned out to be not really worth all the fuss.  I don't hate "Infection", but there's not really anything I like about it either.

3.  "Believers"

Just as "Sleeping in Light" is probably my favorite episode of anything ever, "Believers" is definitely my least favorite.  I have only seen it twice, and the second time it was only because I couldn't believe it was unredeemably bad as I remembered.  It was.  In it, a set of parents kill their own son after (and because) Dr. Franklin had just saved his life.  I guess the episode was meant to prove that there are no easy answers or quick fixes when dealing with religious fanatics, but all I learned was that Dr. Franklin didn't go far enough in standing up to them.  I'm so glad that this episode has absolutely zero impact on any of the larger plot arcs of the show, as it means I will never have to watch it again.
