中文学会会庆 2007 and Get High

Jun 06, 2007 16:00

This post is long overdue (for a week!) simply because I didn't have the time to blog about it, but here goes! It's time again for the annual Chinese Society celebrations, otherwise known as 会庆, of which this year's theme is the four seasons! This year's it's been shifted to May, in view of the Chinese Songwriting Competition (歌谣) that's going to held on July/August. Although attendance by the senior batches wasn't ideal this year (as compared to ours last year), I think with the sheer amount of people from the existing J1 batch, it more than helped to make up for it. (Talking of which, you people seriously need to work on that communication system of yours! Apparently a lot of seniors didn't even receive the message! It's important that you people get it sorted out as soon as possible!)

My only complaint is how the Get High people just came for the food and left. They're obviously not taking the event seriously, and it doesn't surprise me who is leading them. Never mind, I shall reserve that for the second half of my blog post.

Anyway, 会庆 this year was really fun (and lame!) with all the games and weird skits, so I guess the pictures will do more of the talking than me! Now for more pictures!

To get a better grasp of the happenings that day, I've also recorded videos from that day! The first video is of the game《实话实说》and their forfeit of《哭笑不得》! The second video is that of our seniors and their farewell cheer! Quite emotional. However, I'm unable to get the second video up because of problems with Youtube, so if you want it, just ask me on MSN or something ok?

Now for Get High; after sending Liu Qian off at the airport for her OCIP Cambodia with Kelvin, we both headed to the Get High concert to get our goodie bags! I'm sorry, I'm not going to support a self produced concert to boost your own popularity. Ever heard of any singer being a producer for their own concert to publicise themself, moreover in the name of charity? Well, it just happened. I promised people that I'll take pictures from the concert to show the attendance rate, here goes.

Wow, that looks like a lot of people.

Oh, actually it's only half of the central plaza.

So the other half is empty.

If half of the audience is seated, let's say they stand up, doesn't that mean only one-quarter of the central plaza is filled up? Oh, and the 2nd and 3rd levels of the wings were really empty. Surprisingly, I think the audience were rather self-motivated to generate atmosphere. 'Feel the passion'. Yar, right. Hey, but at least the goodie bag has lots of stuff, with an outdated issue of i-Weekly! Sponsors are SO generous, they can't even distribute an issue of this week's copy.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not against the concert, neither am I against Ge Fang, in fact I would gladly give my support! However, in the programme booklet, it seems that neither Frederick nor Jing Ting nor Yibing got credited for anything when they did so much for the concert! And they are the part of Ge Fang's Exco! Their treasurer has really outdone himself this time round.

The thing that pisses me off the most is that my M.A.D juniors are bound by a contract formulated by a particular Campus Superstar. I don't I was ever wrong about the concert, and for all the negative publicity it has generated for itself amongst the school population. So much for self promotion, an ego-boost and a good looking resumé eh?
