Galway/Ireland/Europe

I love it here. How many thousands of times have I said that before? Quite a couple, probably, so it won't hurt saying it again. I love Ireland, I really do. And not just in the way of it's a wonderful country and the people are oh so friendly and aren't the pubs and the leprechauns lovely? All that as well of course (skip the leprechauns though :P), but I love Ireland in a different way. I feel at home here. I am comfortable, I am able to be myself. I never feel more at ease than when I am here, regardless of the weather (which isn't great, if one doesn't like greyness and highly unpredictable showers - myself and Christi were almost shocked today when we realised that we wouldn't turn to ice cubes if we didn't wear jeans!).

We've been travelling around the country for 5 days now. Starting Wednesday in Dublin, we took a bus down to Wexford where we stayed for just one night in a hostel which was quite OK. The proprietor was nice too, except for the fact the he looked and smelled like a junkie (which sort of pulled down the score a bit...). In Wexford we visisted the Irish National Heritage Park and brushed up our Irish history, before taking the last bus to Cork. I loved Cork. Our hostel was around 2km away from the city centre, but it wasn't too bad. On the Friday we took the train up to Cobh, former Queenstown - the place where all the ships going to America etc stopped. Over 1 million people emigrated with Queenstown as their last stop in Ireland, and it was the Titanic's last stop before the iceberg as well. Cobh has a wonderful little museum about the history of emigration in Ireland, that I remember visiting as a ten-year-old, so I really wanted to go back. It was just as wonderful as I remembered... Saturday we visitied the Cork Goal (and I'd only been out of prison 4 weeks... since I visited Alcatraz that is) and "did" Cork, as well as spending over 2 hours in a pub watching the Sweden vs Germany game (gah!!!). And then today we took the bus to Galway, crossing over Limerick as we went.

The hostel we're in now is fantastic. We're sharing our dorm with a Kiwi guy, a girl from California (:D), two other Americans and a guy from Holland - at least that was it last time I checked. The hostel itself is situated right on the main street so everything is so close. I love it. We went out for a gorgeous dinner (we're on a pretty tight budget, so we took this as our lavish night out...) and are now taking it easy and relaxing. Tomorrow we're off on a day trip to see the Cliffs of Moher and then we're going back down to Tralee and then on to Killarney, since the fantastic delorentos are supporting the Frames :D. Then on to Kilkenny to see the Castle before returning to spend a few days in Dublin. I' glad it won't be long before I'm back again... I don't think I could bear to leave otherwise.

And now my Internet time thing is running out - and so am I.
Slan!!
