Well it’s New Years. It’s funny but unlike last New Year with so many new ideas and directions, the last year has been so insane, I just need some time to take everything in. I’ve been to Washington, D.C., New Orleans, Arizona, camped in Wisconsin/Minnesota, and in a few days, I’ll be off again in another country for more studying.
I still have a couple of projects left that I gotta finish. Finished Smiley’s People finally and I’m onto Machiavelli’s Discourse on Livy. I’ve had that book for years and never touched it and I really should brush up on Machiavelli and, maybe one day, some John Rawls.
Construction is taking place above me right this moment and I believe it might have been a bit more than a year ago when there was construction in the same building. How time really flies.
I can say I am a vastly different person from who I was a year ago. I have learned a great deal and perhaps have gained a mite bit more confidence. Unfortunately, I’ve been lax with my physical health and other skills. I have to brush up on that sometime later. The future year from now on will be a much different one from last year’s and it seems much bigger and open and uncertain. One more semester and I’ll graduate.
There’s a lot more planning and insuring left for me yet. But what I really, really want is a nice, long break.
I finally found the perfect fic for my Harry/Voldemort dream:
The Semblance of Peace by Maeglin Yedi
Pairing: Harry/Snape/Voldemort
Summary: Voldemort is finally dead or so the wizarding world believes. Unfortunately, Harry Potter knows better.
Comments: This story is exactly what I wanted for my sudden and surprising Harry/Voldemort crave. That is what their romantic relationship have been like given the circumstances (with the bonus of one Severus Snape) which is less romantic, really, as it is at times humorous and other times disconcerting and always filled with bargaining, lies, and manipulation. Side character death.
I like this Voldemort. It’s so easy to make him insane and power-hungry but to give him feelings and dimensions is pretty difficult but that’s what’s always attracted me in Harry/Voldemort; the Tom Riddle part of Voldemort. The part I liked about Tom Riddle was that he was smart and charming and he used it to his advantage; an invaluable skill he seemed to have forgotten. I love that that side of Voldemort has returned in this story.
Snape is the wonderful middle man balanced between Harry and Voldemort.
