The Hollow Crown

1) I was pleasantly surprised by Richard II. Aside from the freakin' monkey pet that kept scratching its ass, I really liked how film allowed more craziness on Richard's part (e.g.: whispering.)

2) I love Henry IV. It's my favorite play. I was introduced to it in class when I was skeptical of Shakespeare. I hated "Romeo and Juliet" from the get go, liked "Macbeth" from high school but later realized neither Lady Macbeth nor Macbeth himself were hardcore enough, tried out "Titus Andronicus" for hardcore but got bored instead, and "Othello", while poetic, was a bit of an idiot. Midsummer's was pretty but then I read "Henry IV" and I realized historical was where it was at. And I loved Prince Hal and Falstaff's relationship.

To clear things up, I'm not dissing Shakespeare. I like the stuff but I wanted something more than to just admire; something that would evoke more emotions from me personally and I can identify with.

3) Comparing Henry V's Hollow Crown to Kenneth Branagh's version but gotta watch the full version of the latter...
