truth. sometimes when reading the best stories, you can almost sense the urgency behind the words, the desperate need for the writer to put these particular words in these particular orders in the hopes that all of their meaning becomes clear. the stories i walk away from, the ones i never finish, are the ones where i can't make sense of what the writer is trying to tell me, where i can't connect with the characters, or where i don't want to do either.
