Marooned again, you were the ones that brought me into life, marooned again, you were the one's that looked from a sadder light. I liked the way we slept on rooftops in the summertime - If we were all marooned again, I'd give my soul to save you.
Marooned again, you were the one that put me in defense, marooned again, you were the one that took my confidence. I liked the way we slept on rooftops in the summertime - If we were all marooned again, I'd give my soul to save your life

Babylon...
Here is both a quick update some stupid thing that bugged me at work yesterday!
update first:
My new schedule is as follows (as of Sept 29th):
Sunday - Saturday - PWC
I quit FCT and I quite Price Rite (finally)... It was a long time coming. The good news is that I can work less, make more, and be genuinely happier. The bad news (well, if you can call it that) is the commute. It's not a huge deal, and the money I'll make is more than worth it. I like all of my new coworkers and I am excited to say that I will enjoy my stay there.
I set-up a bank account as a DBA for myself, under Pergola Distribution. I am pretty excited about this and I am ready for a nice lifestyle change, also a long time coming. I will be selling both locally and online. The particular niche market I will be filling is one that is heavily occupied on the internet, but I don't see ANY resistance locally. I am hoping I can manage to market these things without extensive expertise. My suppliers are set-up and everything is ready. I am just waiting for my checks and debit card in the mail. Everything is being set-up locally (FNBL) in light of all of the crazy banking problems happening on the economic market.
So, the next step is start dumping money into this little venture and see if it blooms, I guess. I have signed up for the 30 day challenge, even though it's over, I still get the lessons. I will be nice to see if (when I have the time) this pans out.
I bought a laptop at Bestbuy, a Toshiba Satellite M305D-S4830 - it was a very cheap buy for the value. At a little over 5 pounds, it's a 14.1" Widescreen, 1280x800px native. Has 2 USB ports (boo), HDMI out(720p out), 4GB 800MHZ RAM, 250GB HDD, an AMD Turion X2 "Ultra dual-core" ZM-80, ATI Radeon 3100 onboard "dynamic" accelerated graphics, DVD Multi-Drive with Lightscribe (something I will never use) 1.3MP Webcam/Microphone, Windows Vista Premium 64 bit (yuck) etc. All in all, it should be a solid buy. and, as a plus, the speakers are pretty nice.
you can check it out:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8918442&type=product&id=1213400747434 I am hoping that with this laptop, the small amount I am going to flood into the business for a start and otherwise, I should be able to do a decent job selling some stuff.
Now for the stupid thing that bugged me at work yesterday:
Basically, other than everyone in the world being late and calling out yesterday, I guess the day went "smoothly". EXCEPT - some cashier was on the register in front of me and said the most fucking ignorant thing I've ever heard in my life. And that's coming from me.
But anyways, there was this middle-eastern (I say that only out of assumption, and thickness of accent.) guy shopping and talking (via speakerphone) in what I can assume is his native tongue. I can only also assume that it was someone who he knew, because he sounded a little angry on the phone, not yelling - just the tone of voice. And the dumbass cashier in front of me was like: "Dave. Look at register one." So, I did, and didn't see anything weird. So she followed up with: "Look! That makes me scared!"
Now, there is something that should be known... The guy shopping was wearing a turban and had a long beard... In the time that I have seen and talked to this guy shopping, he has never taken off the turban and he has always had the beard. The person, his name I don't remember, is actually really nice - he wears expensive (looking) business suits most of the time or just jeans and a shirt when he is with his children. The cashier in question was saying she was uneasy because some guy, in a turban, with a beard, was talking out loud in a foreign language on speaker phone...
Why is it that the second someone who perhaps watches too much Fox news gets uneasy around a foreigner with a beard? I don't fucking understand it. I could have argued with her logic, but I didn't. Do average people really think that some dude in a turban is ALWAYS going to harm you? If a person is a "bad" person, they're going to harm you regardless of the gender, nationality, religious disposition or attitude. I don't understand how someone can be so naive to think that anyone wearing a turban is a terrorist - or how people can even throw around the word "terrorist" so easily. Every time someone says it, I just always want to bring up the story of Timothy McVeigh - dude was a ROMAN CATHOLIC, CAUCASIN and just pissed off. The moral of the story is, just because you're black/white/asain/arabic/russian etc doesn't mean you're predispositioned to fucking blow somebody up.
