There is this Derek Webb song called Mockingbird. The chorus goes:
and i am like a mockingbird
i’ve got no new song to sing
and i am like an amplifier
i just tell you what i’ve heard
oh, i’m like a mockingbird
I have an artist's heart. I love creativity and thinking big, wild, colorful thoughts. But the humbling thing to realize is that I have never, EVER had an original thought. My most unique thoughts and ideas are not mine, but are passed from Him. He thought of it first. Then He gave my brain the capability to grab it and absorb it and expound upon it.
God has never been taken by surprise. Nobody has ever come up with a new idea for Him. Nothing has ever just occurred to Him. How wild is that? And in all that, He wires specific brains to receive ideas and grasp concepts that no other mind has ever been able to apprehend or comprehend before. He lets us take the credit for invention and discovery. And how wild is THAT?
It's proof we are unable to threaten His security, that's for sure.
I am pulling in closer and cloesr to the concept of prophetic inspiration. Walk in the Spirit? How about "create in the Spirit"? God created the world and everything in it simply by speaking. Makes you wonder about the power of the Spirit that makes His home in us. Makes you wonder just how much power is in our hands just because of Him. Makes you wonder how much more we could be if we'd only be less. Another paradox in the upside down Christ-life.
