Hello,
First, let's take care of the minutia before I get on with announcements:
- Happy New Year! This year is somehow shaping up to be better than last year, but not without it setbacks. With the right attitude, we'll make it through.
- Happy Valentines Day! No one chose me as their Valentine, this year, so I avoided a fate worse than death and managed to go see a good film at the cinema, which doesn't happen often enough. To those of you who were chosen, my best wishes and deepest regrets go out to your loved ones.
- Yes, I have heard about the new Death Note project, which we'll be hearing more about next month. I'm excited, to say the least. However, it doesn't fill me with as much sadistic glee as the thought of the Death Note stage musical to be taking to Japanese and South Korean theatres in 2015 (and perhaps the rest of the world). If all goes well, I might be in Japan to see it myself, and if I am, I will blog about it like the arsehole I am. If I'm not, it will be something to laugh about later. (I hear the lyrics and script may be in English, which is interesting).
Good. Done. Now the announcements.
Ave Maria
Some of you may have noticed that there hasn't been an update on Death NotexElsewhere crossover Ave Maria for over a year, now, the prologue having been released January 28th 2013. I'm sorry. The fact is that what I need for chapter 1, including the time, just isn't attainable right now, so, to end the waiting, I have decided to start writing Part 1: The River Styx (chapters 2-8 or so) of the fic and edit it them now. When they're done, I'll start releasing them here. The good news about this, is that you don't need chapter 1 to enjoy and understand Part 1, so you can go right ahead with reading it without any more delays. The bad news is that due to formatting issues, these chapters will not be released on FFN (where it is also hosted) until chapter 1 is complete. It's been a hard decision to make, but I have decided that your enjoyment is paramount to my procrastination. Once Part 1 is complete, I can properly plan and then write Part 2, sticking to the part-by-part work plan.
You will thank me later.
In related news, I left the cover picture in a different county and may be getting it soon. It will essentially be done when I find the time to paint it all.
Original Work
As I said during the last Update, I have been working hard on my original project. With a three-day-weekend coming up, I plan to use at least most of it on further developing this. It's pretty exciting stuff. The ideas are coming in fast, and writing the actual content feels natural somehow, which I'm taking to be a sign that getting into character isn't an issue. With any luck, I may actually finish this bitch in three years. I just hope that if it sees the light of day, you enjoy reading it as much as I do writing it.
A sort of writing-focused update today. I think I've spent one too many focusing on myself than on my work, so here's something to set that straight. Of course, if you have any questions or comments for anything I've talked about in this update or any previous update, please share them. You support means a lot to me.
Thanks, and love you all.
