My Darling SungMin
It was a nice day out in China. She just got off the plane. They’ll be landing here for only a day. She can’t waste the time she has so she immediately set off on her first destination, the zoo, where her favorite animal is to be found.
She could not believe her eyes when she saw such large but cute animals. She took a lot of pictures of them.
As she was backing up to get a better shot, she bumped into someone. She hastily turned around to say sorry but stopped short. She was just inches away from a guy’s face. She blinked a few times before backing off hastily. She has never seen such a pretty face before she realized that he was actually a guy.

He finally found a day off. He went to the zoo to get some inspiration for his next fashion collection which is coming soon.
He took pictures of the variety of colors around him. He was too absorbed on it that he didn’t notice a girl standing on his path and bumped head on with her.
He found it annoying at first especially since he almost dropped his camera but realizing that it was his fault as well, he decided to say sorry.
He was amused at the girl’s reaction.

“I’m sorry, I was not looking!” they both said in unison. Then started again, “No, it was my fault!”. And again, “Are you ok?”. After that, they looked at each other and laughed.
“Hi, I’m Sungmin Lee.” He said extending his hand helping her up.
“I’m Levine Chen.” She said I response taking his hand.
They shook each other’s hand and unknowingly walked off together.
“Are you from here?” he asked as they strolled along.
“No, just visiting. I got a break from work. You?” she answered.
“Same here. Looking for some inspiration for my designs.” He said.
“Designs?” she inquired.
“Yeah, I’m a fashion designer. I’ve got a show coming up.” He explained.
“Oh, umm... You’re not thinking of using panda skin are you?” she asked suddenly.
“No, of course not. I like pandas and I don’t want to violate any animal law, whatsoever. I’m just looking at the colors.” He defended.

“I see. Sorry.” She let out a sigh of relief.
“By any chance, do you like pandas?” he inquired noticing her deep concern for the specific animal.
“Yeah, they’re my favorite which is why I’m here just to see them.” She responded then her stomach began growling. She blushed furiously. He just smiled.
He found her cute and interesting.
“Umm... Would you like to have lunch with me? I’m getting hungry too. Think of it as a “sorry” for bumping in to you and a “thank you” for accompanying me. ” He persuaded her.
She thought for a while then simply nodded while clutching her grumbling stomach.

He thought they would not be seeing each other again after yesterday. He wondered what she’s doing at the moment and smiled as remembered their short meeting. He was called back for some urgent matter and had to leave hastily that afternoon just when they were having a great time. He never thought he would be sitting on a plane the very next day. He didn’t even get to get her number or some way of contact. For some reason, he couldn’t forget her.
****
She gave a huge sigh as she read her message on her phone, telling her that it’s time to go back already. She was staring at their picture together and remembered the fun they had the day before. She wondered if she’ll ever see him again, perhaps through some stroke of fate but shook her head as she realized they didn’t even get each other’s number.
“So much for a wonderful love story.” she thought out loud as she went about on her work.

This time, he was the one who was blinking rapidly as he made sure that he was seeing what he thought he was seeing.
There she was, standing before him in her stewardess uniform smiling as she asked him if he needed anything.

She peeked behind the curtain, checking twice, that he was actually sitting there in the plane she is in. Her superior saw her acting weird and reprimanded her for slacking off and told her to attend to the passengers so with a genuine smile she tended to each of the passengers until she reached his seat. Her heart was pounding at the surprised look he gave her.

“Umm… Yes, I would like your number please.” He replied with a smile when he recovered his surprise.

She glanced at her watch and ended up staring at the two smiling faces looking back at her.
It was his present last Christmas, a watch with their picture together in the background. She finally remembered that she was supposed to be checking the time. It was almost Christmas Eve and it was also getting chilly walking in the bustling city street.
Everyone who passed by seems to be together with their special someone. It made her wished he could have been there with her.
She gave a huge sigh as she thought how foolish she was for telling him that she’ll be alright by herself while she urged him to go on with his winter fashion show. It was a big lie. They had planned to go back here together after all, to the place where they first met about a year ago. She thought about going after him but she just might get in his work. She didn’t want to be a burden, he’ll be sure to tend to her instead of focusing on his task.
She walked on with her head held low so as to avoid looking at the happy shoppers going about until she bumped onto something fuzzy.
She muttered a sorry as she looked up and came face to face with a giant black and white head of an animal she know so well. A panda, a panda mascot to be exact. She blinked her eyes a couple of times just to make sure she is seeing what she thinks she is seeing. When she recovered, the panda handed her a single white rose with a red ribbon tied on it.

He wondered what the fashion world would say to what he’s wearing at the moment and laughed at the thought as went around looking for her in the busy street.
“It’s almost Christmas Eve, where could she have gone to in this cold night?” he thought out loud. Just then, he found her walking alone looking glum and obviously cold. He hurriedly put on the head and started walking towards her. He was amazed. She didn’t even notice him until they bumped into each other.
“How could she not, I’m big enough to be seen a block from here?” he thought then he smiled at her reaction the moment she saw him.
“Finally.” He thought and proceeded with his plan.

She took the gift reluctantly. She looked closely at the flower and found a ring tied on the ribbon. Her heart was pounding again as she untied the ribbon. It was silver with a diamond perched on top of it. She looked at the panda questioningly.
She looked back at the panda. It was now holding a small banner containing the words, “Will You Marry Me?” then slowly removed its head to reveal a sweaty but smiling Sungmin.

He held his breath as he waited on her reply. His heart began to pound as he saw her teary eyed upon seeing his face. The happiness he felt when she nodded her “yes” and smiled at him.

She sobbed quietly and happily under his warm and fuzzy embrace. She still could not quite believe that he was really there with her. She never thought that he would propose to her like that. She knew that he is “the One” as he whispered the words, “I’m fated to love you”.
