“I can’t believe I married him!” Rui said three months after their wedding.
The girls are gathering at their café one afternoon.
Misaki: “Nee, what exactly is the reason why you left him a week ago?”
Rui: “He was…. He was… was… well this and that.”
Byul: “What do you mean by that? You’ve been saying ‘this and that’. Can’t you be more specific?”
Chie: “Honestly, he’s been calling us asking what he might have done wrong to you. The poor guy, he doesn’t seem to have much sleep lately.”
Rui: “Really?”
Byul: “Aish. What did that person ever do to you? You won’t even talk to him. He’s been looking all around for you.”
Misaki: “Yeah, the last fight he had with you, as he remembered, was something about food. He wanted this and you wanted that.”
Rui: “Oh that was nothing, just the usual we-don’t-have-that-much-in-common-stuff or the I-just-want-to-disagree-with-whatever-he-wants moments.”
Byul: “You’re crazy. By the way, aren’t you eating too much of that chocolate? You also ordered chocolate drink. I thought you’re prone to tonsillitis?”
Rui: “It’s fine. Sweets are good for the broken-hearted, you know.”
Chie: “Are you really the broken-hearted one? Or rather, should you be the broken-hearted one? I mean, you’re the one who left him without any further say.”
Rui: “I don’t know. I just feel irritated every time I see him but I can’t remember anymore why that is so.” She was starting to feel bad about it now that she thought about it.
Byul: “What? That’s it? You just left him on a whim without any acceptable reason at all?”
Chie: “Yeah, like did he have any affairs with other girls or guys for that matter? Just anything valid.”
Rui: “No, nothing like that. I mean, he even looks prettier than most girls and he’s definitely not gay.”
Misaki: “Well, since you can’t remember anymore what you’re mad about and there doesn’t seem to be any valid reason, can’t you just go back to him already? Everyone’s worried about the two of you. What if your parents finds out?”
Byul: “Yeah, how would they react if they found out that the chance of them becoming grandparents was lost just like that too soon?”
Rui: “Well… I’ll think of something. Please don’t tell them anything yet.”
Chie: “You’re going to be the death of us all.”
Byul: “What about you’re so-called signs of ‘The one’? Didn’t he comply with it all?”
Rui: “So what? For all I know it was just a coincidence.”
Chie: “All of it? Coincidence? I don’t think so.”
Misaki: “Ei, what if he comes to fetch you? Will you go by then?”
Rui: “Am I such a nuisance here already that you really want me to go?” starts to sob.
Byul: “Now, now. You know it’s not like that. Why are you suddenly so sensitive?” She comforted Rui.
Rui: “Because, everyone’s saying it’s my fault and I’m feeling guilty right now with everyone ganging up on me. But I can’t help it if I felt that way. I can’t understand it either.” She continued to sob.
Just then someone entered the café.
Heechul: “Ei, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?”
Rui: “What are you doing here? How do you even know I was here?”
Byul: “I’m sorry. We called him earlier so both of you can talk.”
Chie: “Oi, Heechul, what’s wrong with you? Why do you look like you’re about to puke?”
He was covering his mouth.
Misaki: “Are you all right?”
Heechul: “Somewhat, I kept feeling nauseous and even vomiting lately. I don’t know why.”
Byul: “Rui-chan, Oi, Rui-chan! What wrong with you suddenly?!”
Rui just fainted. She was brought to the hospital.

Another week has passed by.
The house was quiet. It was late when he got off from work. As he entered, he noticed a sleeping figure lying in the sofa silhouetted by the single lamp in one corner barely illuminating the living room. He went closer.
He stroked her hair. How she loved it when he does that. He looked at her closed eyes, and wondered how many teardrops she’s shed because of him. From then on, how just one drop of tear would already make him do anything for her. He caressed her cheeks, her lips parted a little.
She stirred. She smiled as she recognized him.
“Did you eat already?” she asked still sleepy-eyed.
“Yeah, I did. How about you?” he asked back.
“Yes. Mom brought some food when she came to visit this afternoon.” She answered rubbing her eyes.
“How was your day?” she inquired.
“Good, it was fine. Go back to sleep, I’ll just carry you back to our room.” He said.
She just nodded her head too sleepy to protest. He kissed her forehead.
He struggled a little as he lifted her up, then he carefully carried the two most important persons in his life.
END… not!
Flashback on what happened in the hospital...
Misaki: “Rui-chan, are you alright?” she asked as Rui woke up in the hospital bed.
Rui: “Better. What happened? Where am I?”
Byul: “You fainted. We brought you to the hospital.”
Chie: “Don’t scare us like that.”
Rui: “I’m sorry I made you worry.” she looked around.
Misaki: “Heechul’s gone to talk to the doctor also to get some check-up himself.”
She just nodded.

Inside the doctor’s office.
Heechul: “Is my wife going to be okay?”
Doctor: “She’s going to be alright, just a little stress. It’s normal for her in that state.”
Heechul: “What state? Is she sick?”
Doctor: “No, she’s not sick. She’s just pregnant.”
Heechul: “What? She didn’t tell me anything.”
Doctor: “I presume she doesn’t know herself. From her records, her period has always been irregular and being as it is the first baby and still in the first three months, the changes are still unnoticeable.”
Heechul: “I see. What about me? Why am I always vomiting? Is there something wrong?”
Doctor: “It is related to her being pregnant. It’s like morning sickness just that instead of her experiencing it, you are.”
Heechul: “Eh? Is that normal?”
Doctor: “I have encountered the same cases as yours before. There’s no need to worry. It will subside in a while.”
Heechul: “Another question, does her pregnancy also affects her feelings towards me?”
Doctor: “Well, it varies to the woman. It’s like how most pregnant women crave for green mangoes while hate other foods or things for that matter. In your case, She craves chocolates while she hates you. To put it bluntly but don’t worry it is only temporary. You have to be patient and understanding as she tends to be very sensitive at this point. She just doesn’t know it at this point, if we just explain it to her, I’m sure she’ll understand.”
Heechul: “Then please do so, doctor.” He said standing up and ushering the doctor outside the office towards his wife’s room.
