Letters from Home

Dec 09, 2009 14:21

Today I received an attorney's letter informing me of the 2005 death of someone who shares the same last name as me.
I am clumsily informed that his real family died in Sumatra in 2004 in a tsunami disaster (and shown the wiki entry to this terrible tragedy) and that there is 17million at stake here ("please contact me for more information").

Of course, there is no reference to what that last name might be, nor who this "deceased client" is.

The email originates from insing.com (singaporean yahoo knockoff) and goes back out to sify.com (Indian gmail knockoff).

It might even have been credible, except, given the amount, there's no way it would have been anyone in my family.
