Well, thankfully the problem with the college internet has been sorted out, and I can now connect to it again. Turns out that because I use Bittorrent on my computer, the college had added my machine's MAC address to the ban list on their network, so I couldn't connect to what little internet there was. All sorted out now though, I've unistalled Bittorrent and my address is now off the ban list because the college's IT admin likes me. Moral of the story: make friends with the IT guys, they have the power to destroy your internet.
