(no subject)
I have decided that Home Depot was created by the devil...or at least by someone who really hates me. I like the way people in the lumber section don't know what LATICE IS! My friend and I went there yesterday to buy wood for stretchers for our canvases. Yeah...I even pointed it out to the guy he was convinced someone must have miss labeled it because "lattice is that fencing you use in your gardens. You know the kind that crosses all those times. It is ok honey a lot of people come in here not knowing what they are looking for." Because of course I am just a young woman and there for must know nothing about building things. But it is ok I just told him that it was what I was looking for whether it was marked right or not. Ahhhh!! and then I told him I needed it cut to 5 feet and 1/2 inches and he almost forgot to account for the blade's width while cutting. I was trying to be nice so I told him it had to be exact but he...well he was still going to cut it wrong so I had to remind him. I smiled and everything. He gave me a shocked look when I called it a radial saw...which is what it was, but why would I ever had known something like that! You know I haven't taken structure classes or built ANYTHING in my whole life. All those other stretchers must have built themselves or something. I think he must have been new or something it was kind of annoying. He really was testing my patients. When I asked for poly vinyl acetate glue I thought his eyes were going to pop out of his head. I have to remember to call it space age glue next time.
Well after that disaster was over I felt better. I don't know I guess I shouldn't take offence but it gets on my nerves. I mean I don't think I look helpless and stupid but I guess you can never see yourself through other's eyes.
