Silvia's Story with Pepa #7

Heyyyy how’s everything going today/night?

I hope you’re having a wonderful day/night…

In my opinion this is the chapter where everything starts to develop a bit more

As I always have said

Hope you like it and

Enjoy the reading
I'm sick :(

In the package were the remains of what had been yellow roses; now shredded and faded. There was a note. They had all noticed but no one picked it up. Silvia reached it, unfolded and read it.

“I wanted to make you happy nevertheless you don’t take your eyes off from her”

Mariano was stuck to Paco’s side: Paco your sister and Silvia…..

Pepa that was by his side: Shut up Mariano.

Don Lorenzo looked to her daughter then to Pepa.

Pepa looked to Silvia and she was able to see the concern in her eyes. Then Marcos Garcia the forensic entered with Montoya and Pepa came up to him:

-Where were you last night?

-None of your business.

Pepa grabbed him by the jacket: I care if you try to kill me.

Montoya tried to stop her: Pepa please let him go.

Paco: answer to the question.

Marcos: what is this?Ah?

D.Lorenzo: agent Miranda! Inspector, please answer.

Taking off Pepa’s hands from him and smoothing his suit.

Marcos: Yesterday I had dinner with my assistant.

Pepa stared at Silvia: who then?

Silvia: why are you asking me?

Pepa: because some …..

Don Lorenzo: Miranda to the briefing room, Montoya, Paco and Silvia you too. Inspector Garcia, Mariano will take care of you.

Pepa didn’t wait for everybody to get in: How many have you received?

Silvia: three with this one.

Pepa: and why you didn’t say anything?

Silvia: say what…

Pepa: that a crazy one was sending you flowers…

Little by little their tone had been rising and they were getting closer.

Silvia with despair: I didn’t think it was a crazy alright…

D.L: Pepa, Silvia please sit down---he said it with such a kind tone that puzzled both---Silvia, daughter there’s a crazy one out there trying to hurt you.

Pepa: I’m sorry, but he wanted to KILL ME!

D.L: Yes Miranda and if we don’t catch him he will probably try the same with Silvia.

It was true, until that moment Pepa had been so defensive believing that it was a personal attack and then she attacked Silvia believing that she had hidden something that had put her life on risk.

Montoya: I think we should review both the assault and the different deliveries and everything else you have done together. Maybe we could find similarities; it’s clear that he knows you.

Don Lorenzo began with the questioning. Pepa was the first one. The first dinner, first delivery, the night over Madrid, second delivery, and the last weekend in Aranjuez, the assault and so far the last delivery came out to light.

Montoya was questioning Silvia trying to find a possible rejected suitor but she didn’t help to the matter.

Silvia wearily: I don’t know Gonzalo; I have no idea who is the one that sent me the flowers. Don’t ask me to think whom I have rejected.

Montoya: Because you don’t remember or because there are too many?

Silvia accused the low blow: I’m sorry not to be as sociable as you.

Pepa: Gonzalo since when a woman has to apologize for saying no?

D. Lorenzo: okay, okay, what do we have so far?

Paco consulting his notes that he had written during the two interrogations: It’s clear that he knows you, but not enough to know the true relationship between the two of you. The sporadic encounters and what he sees and hears are the ones that drive him to imagine the rest.

Pepa suddenly said: In the bar---everyone was looking at her so she clarified-he knows us from the bar; we always end up there telling our things to Lola.

Paco: Well, most of them are cops.

D. Lorenzo: I give shit what they are. I want the reports from all the usual costumers.

Paco: That would take us months…

Montoya: what has pissed him?

Paco: That Pepa is close to Silvia.

Don Lorenzo: what are you suggesting Montoya?

Montoya: well, if they show up very lovably in the bar he will be piss again.

D. Lorenzo stared at her daughter: are you capable?

Pepa and Silvia looked at each other then nodded in doubt.

Pepa: and what are we gonna say to Lola?

Paco: I think we should tell her the truth or at least part of it.

Silvia: just tell her that there is a stalker and we will try him to reveal his self.

Don Lorenzo: Montoya from now on I want an escort for one of each.

Pepa: in my case there’s not nee….

D. Lorenzo: For the two. Alright? Montoya let’s be discreet. Let’s don’t make the crazy one think that they are suitors too.

They all rose but Silvia and Pepa stayed. When they were alone Pepa turned to her; she had something to ask since hours ago.

Pepa: you thought that it was me who sent you the flowers right?

Silvia nodded, why lie to her. But talk about it in that moment wasn’t something she wanted to do.

Pepa: why didn’t you say anything?---before Silvia spoke she realized that she didn’t want to hear the answer---it would be better not to tell me I can imagine….

Silvia: is not what you think…

Pepa got up to leave and as she reached the door Silvia said: I liked to think that they were yours.

Pepa stopped but didn’t turn; she bent her head as if she was holding and processing what she had just heard: I wish they were mine---and left.

On Silvia’s cheek a tear slipped down and a thought escaped from her mouth: Why it is so difficult…

The next day Pepa came almost running to the bar: Lola I need you to give a message to Silvia, we suppose to be at the prescient at 10 but Sevilla has called me and I need to be there urgently.

Lola had been already warned by Paco about what was going on and so she asked her: why don’t you send her a message...

Pepa: it is 6 in the morning, I don’t want to wake up and worry her as she reads it…. plus I don’t know when I could call her.

Lola: whenever she comes I tell her don’t worry

Julian approached Pepa: here Pepa take this sandwich with jamoncito that you like so much so you can eat it in your way.

Pepa: Thank you Julian

Throughout the day Silvia waited for Pepa’s news; she knew that the reason for her going to Sevilla was the conclusion of a trial. There were witnesses protected and that’s why the trial date had been disclosed at such short notice, the security of witnesses was essential. She had sent her a text but didn’t receive a response. Since their last conversation in the briefing room they had not spoken. The harasser thing was affecting her; to know that someone wants deliberately hurt you wasn’t easy to assimilate.

She went home but not before notifying Curtis; today he will be her shadow.

It was nearly 1 am when her phone rang.

Pepa: hello, is a bit late…

Silvia: hi, don’t worry... I haven’t gone to bed yet…

-You can’t sleep?

Silvia admitted: I’m a little nervous.

-Redhead, I know you and I’m sure you can’t stop thinking why you?

-I’m that bad? So bad that I can make someone go crazy and mad like that…

-hey, that someone is crazy, it’s that simple; and you are his obsession.

Silvia wanted to change the subject: what about the wound?

-I just checked it and it hasn’t bleed again.

-in a few day I have to remove the stitches, how’s the trial?

-it’s been a nightmare, everyone is very nervous about the witnesses but well…..

-When are you coming back?

-I expected to be there tomorrow but I doubt it---there was silence on the line-redhead???

-nothing, nothing-that’s what she said but it wasn’t what she thought “I need to talk to you, I need you by my side, I need to tell you what I’m feeling for you” those were her thoughts.

-I’ll send you a text when I get there…it’s that okay?

-okay.

-Who is with you?

-Curtis is in the entrance

Pepa was smiling when she spoke: if he asks you to come in with an excuse you would reject him right?

-jealous?

-of course.

Silvia also smiled, she liked when Pepa flirted with her.

-okay I let you sleep, dream with the angels princess.

-come back soon okay?

-a kiss.

The next day in order to make her day more bearable she refuge)))))) herself in the lab making autopsies and looking for forensic evidence, especially after receiving a text message from Pepa saying that she would be delaying another day; don’t seeing her make her day to be an eternity. She realized that she was tense; that the solitude of the lab or her office got on her nerves, even her father had noticed it when in less than 3 hours she had gone into his office with topics she could have asked by phone. Don Lorenzo wanted to reassure her, but Silvia needed only the presence of a particular person.

=====================================================================================Pepa was catching up with Lola at the bar.

Lola: and have you told my sister that you were here already?

Pepa: I sent her a text message, she told me that she’ll be here at 9 and that we will have breakfast together. I think she won’t take too long.

Pepa was sitting on a stool, swinging herself nervously while she waited for Silvia’s arrival. The bar was quite full and anyone could be the crazy one so they had to begin to represent their charade.

Lola: Sister; it was about time. Pepa has been waiting for you at least 30 minutes.

Silvia approached with half apology: I left some papers and I had to come back for them---the truth was that she was so nervous that it has taken forever to get dressed.

Pepa turned the stool to face her and when they were on the same level she opened her arms to her and placed her hands on Silvia’s hips.

Pepa incorporating herself: hi baby---she gave her a peak in the mouth----and sat down again without taking her hands away from Silvia’s hips.

Silvia got closer to Pepa and thought “Now or never”, she caressed her right cheek: I’ve missed you a lot---put her hands on both sides of Pepa’s face and kissed her. It wasn’t just a slight brush of lips; it was more intense and Pepa took a second to react. Pepa pulled her closer and responded the kiss. Silvia was in the middle of Pepa’s legs and she could feel her hands resting on the end of her spinal column. She had hers on Pepa’s neck don’t wanting the kiss to end. They notice a vibration and after a second the sound of a cell phone.

Pepa slightly separated her mouth: shit, I’m sorry.

Silvia still on her arms smiled: answer.

Pepa reached into her pocked and with the other hand she kept Silvia against her body.

Pepa: Fuck I just arrived, now what’s going on? ….Yes Sir, I’ll be there in 5 minutes.

Silvia: What happens?

-it was your dad; I have to go with him to Marco’s police station. He has gotten Internal Affairs into our conflict.

-I’ll go with you to the precinct

-Aren’t you gonna have breakfast?

Lola that was speechless as she watched them kissing: Take these croissants and eat it on your way..

They left the bar that was just about 5 minutes far from the precinct. Curtis followed them discreetly; he had seen the scene but his thoughts were different “fuck with Pepa; the inspector had kissed her like she wanted to eat her”.

Pepa trying to give a professional tone: did you notice if any customer was looking at us?

Silvia smiled: all of them; including my sister and Curtis with his mouth open.

Pepa smiled too: I’m not surprised…I thought that at any moment I would see a knife flying in our direction..

-you didn’t seem to be thinking.

Pepa almost choked with the croissant she was eating: okay I must admit that I was just thinking in how good you kiss.

Silvia was a little embarrassed; Pepa’s sincerity had always taken her by surprise.

Don Lorenzo was at the main entrance of the police station…

-          What!!! You were taking a romantic walk…

-          No sir, for that I would be either holding your daughter’s hand or waist…

-          You are so….get in the car

Pepa turning to Silvia: will you give me a kiss for good luck? ---Looking at Don Lorenzo----just in case the stalker is watching us.

Don Lorenzo: your fucking mother; I’ll be waiting in the car.

Silvia grabbed her face with one hand and gave her a peak: you’re enjoying this right?

Pepa hugged her on an impulse and talked to her in the ear:  the thing is that you taste so good…take care okay?

Silvia entered the prescient with Curtis and he lacked the time to tell Kike and the others what he had seen at the bar and at main entrance.

In the car with Don Lorenzo Pepa couldn’t stop thinking about the kiss.

D. Lorenzo: Miranda is there anything new?

- No sir.

-Let me talk with internal affairs first.

Pepa was about to protest but decided to remain silent; Don Lorenzo wondered why: May I know in what the hell were you thinking when you faced him (Marcos)?

Pepa said without giving a second thought: in Silvia…I care a lot about her---seeing that the commissioner didn’t mention his cojones she continued: I don’t want anyone to hurt her.

Don Lorenzo went straight to the point: What are your intentions with my daughter?

Pepa: I won’t…

Don Lorenzo interrupted her: my daughter is emotionally unstable woman…

Pepa didn’t expect something like that: I will not talk with you about Silvia….

Don Lorenzo: oh no? Well, I would---Pepa kept her attitude and she wasn’t going to engage a discussion---unstable; that’s why you have been acting as a friend since you arrived…a dinner once in a while, a weekend somewhere… etcetera---he paused-do you think I haven’t noticed that Silvia thought that it was you who sent her the flowers?

It had been clear to Pepa and it was clear to most of the people.

Pepa started to feel uncomfortable: what are you trying to say..

-Miranda; you care about my daughter more than just a friend and you’re hoping her to feel the same way about you…---Pepa seemed to want to point something out but Don Lorenzo with a hand gesture didn’t let her speak: you can see on Silvia’s face and her attitude when she’s happy and these two days that you have been out she become the same person focused solely on her work and she wasn’t happy anymore. You have been very smart, after my speech during the first dinner we shared you haven’t sought a confrontation with me.

Pepa had it clear that if she confronted Don Lorenzo Silvia would have been defensive, after all he was her father.

Don Lorenzo: as a police officer you have earned my respect and I assure you that I’m not the same person of 10 years ago. The only thing I want is to see my daughters happy.

Pepa was surprised by the speech; after all, Don Lorenzo wasn’t such a bad person.

D. Lorenzo: we have arrived…Miranda; we haven’t had this conversation…are we clear?

-Yes sir.
