Lots of Stuff Going On

Catherine's naming ceremony and first birthday party was a huge success. She was a little superstar and coped brilliantly with all the attention. It was lovely to see so many friends and family there, and we missed those who weren't able to make it. The Humanist lady wrote a wonderful ceremony which captured our spirit perfectly. She's promised me an electronic copy, so when I get that I will put it up here for posterity :)

My favourite moment was when we cut the cake, Catherine was getting a little fidgeting, but when everyone sang "Happy Birthday to You" she gave her audience the largest smile!

We've just finished opening all the presents, and Catherine will be writing her thankyou letters soon, but I'd just like to thank everyone for being so kind and generous :)

I went back to work on Monday. It was all very strange. Plenty of familiar things - the same people, the same building, almost the same desk, the same terminology etc. However, just enough has changed in the 14 months I've been off that I feel like a complete newbie again. It took me until 3pm on my first day to access my email, and my laptop is still being rebuilt. Still I think my new three-day week work pattern (I work Monday, Wednesday and Friday) is going to suit me nicely. And as one mother I spoke to at work this week said, it's nice to be able to go to the loo whenever I want to!

Catherine is in nursery Monday and Friday, and getting on really well there. On Wednesday John had his first day of looking after her. He went for bonus credit as well - having his Mum, sister and nephew over in the morning, and then going out to the Trafford Centre in the afternoon! It all seems to have gone well, thank goodness.
