So I got a letter on Friday. From the part of my company that deals with one of our employee share purchase schemes. Advising me that they had been advised by Payroll that my salary was not sufficient to cover my contribution this month. This rang alarm bells, as this particular contribution is only £30 per month. How could I not be able to cover £30 per month? So I called them this morning. Oh yes, they said, Payroll say you're not getting any salary this month. Hmmmm, I said, I had better speak to Payroll.
Turns out that somewhere in the chain of people involved, my MATB1, the official maternity certificate I got from my midwife about 20 weeks ago, went missing. Payroll never received it. So they know I've stopped work, but can't be sure I'm entitled to maternity pay, thus decided to just not pay me anything.
Thankfully, because I was a little concerned something like this would happen, I took a photocopy of this certificate, and was able to fax it directly to the lady in Payroll today. Which means everything has been sorted out before the pay run, and I will (hopefully) get some money this month. Thank goodness.
The major news from the weekend is that my hospital bag is now packed. And much to John's amazement I am only taking one washbag!
Also, the cot arrived on Thursday. But the bad news is when it was unpacked it turned out to be damaged. *sigh*. Looks like it's been dropped at some point, as the corners on both end panels are dented, and there's a nice big crack down one end. So yet more phonecalls with the supplier, who are due to be dispatching new end panels (and a helpful man to assemble them for us) post haste. Should the baby arrive between now and then, the cot will be serviceable, it's just not pretty.
In good news though, Mum came over today, and we've taken a full car load of rubbish to the dump. Which is making our house feel a lot less cluttered, and means that at last the pram has been able to be put into its proper home - under the stairs :)
