Had a lovely New Year weekend with Mum staying. We blitzed out kitchen (what started out as simply tidying out one cupboard lefd to major re-tidying of all cupboards apart from the crockery ones!). We now have a lovely, tidy, organised kitchen, with much more counter space having put a lot of the clutter away. The challenge is to first of all keep it that way, and second of all carry on the good work by finishing off the paperwork pile :)
We also cleared out all the Atkins stuff. I think we're in the same place as
ngma was in December - we know Atkins works for us, but it's just too hard to stick to it at the moment. So all the stuff she kindly donated to us, along with a load of stuff we already had is now sat in a box waiting for the next time I see
janineblackmore - watch out Neens! :)
We took Mum to see Narnia, which we all really enjoyed. It was very well done, and the special effects were lovely - I found myself obsessed with Mr Tumnus' legs, trying to figure out how they had done them! The kids were all very good, and I loved Jim Broadbent as the professor. If I had one criticism of the film it was that somehow it didn't seem fully engaging at the emotional level. I expected to cry more (knowing the story), and I really didn't.
Mum went home yesterday, and I was back at work. This was our first day to try our new routine, and I think it worked. We headed off to the gym when I got home from work, and did our workout routines. I did my stretches, followed by about 15 minutes on the treadmill. I was considering having a swim as well, but I got a couple of twinges from my back at the end of my walk, so decided best to stop before overdoing it. John finished off his programme, and then we had a healthy meal in the gym restaurant. The food was excellent, plus we discovered that you can order in advance so they have it ready when you finish your workout, so I think we'll do that in future.
I have signed myself on to the Pilates class on Thursday and Yoga on Monday - I'll give both a try and see which one I prefer :)
Since posting my
New Years Resolutions, I've made another one (this is jointly with my car share partner):
5. We resolve to adjust our morning departure time so that we get in early enough to put a few extra hours in per week. We're aiming for a working week of 38-39 hours (contracted hours is 35 - yes, yes I know it's cushy!).
I'm off to acupuncture tonight, plus a Sandbach Players meeting to see what drama productions are coming up this year.
ETA Total consumption of chocolate yesterday was three Matchmakers, and that was only to finish the box off. managed to resist all temptation at work :)
