5.) I have a very basic understanding of Hitchcock. I always thought he was the grandfather of horror movies when actually he refined suspense from what I understand.
When I looked at IMDB over his body of work, I was disappointed how few of the films were like Psycho or The Birds.
From the research and just asking friends, Hitchcock made a ton of classics. He had obsessions over his leading ladies. His wife Alma had complete and final script approval and most of their life it was more a team than a marriage. Tippi Hedren is said to be the only Hitchcock leading lady to refuse him, though, I just can't believe that Hitch, his nickname, got anything over on Grace Kelly. He really respected her.. because he was constantly quoted as saying his 'new girl' was the 'next Grace Kelly.

1.) Psycho was a movie I had seen once before in 11th Grade. We actually watched it in a class. Bates Motel is a sensation with the critics and the viewers. It brings in major ratings, and I love the color scheme, the creepiness, and Vera Farminga!!!
When I re-watched Psycho the other night (maybe 4 nights ago - after the BM marathon on A&E) I was so impressed by things I thought I would never be.
Janet Leigh or Lee, is gorgeous beyond belief. All the scenes leading up to her taking a room at the Bates Motel have this eerie sense of doom. Like, you know from the beginning this woman is not going to make it one way or another.
And then we have Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates. Again, another beautiful actor with an eternally youthful look. When he goes there with the creepiness it is really effective. Hitch really cast the male leads well, as well.
Overall, Psycho is a suspense/horror film I can tolerate. I can't tolerate many.
