Everything. Are they dangerous? What are they? What are we? What is it that they do that burns?

The Reapers are a threat to our existence. They desire light; we desire darkness. We are opposites of one another; our coexistence is impossible. That burn perhaps was their ability - Holy - with one sole purpose: a means to harm us.

Perhaps you desire to take action against those who threaten our existence?

Yes, I do. I have no desire to cease to exist. I need to become more powerful, become more useful. These Reaper creatures could become a threat to Shin-Ra in time. What do you suggest?

I am planning an uprising against the Reapers for the recent atrocities we as a whole have experienced. Such would most likely entail a physical encounter to crush the Reapers. Where do your strengths lie best, Rufus Shinra? Planning, I would presume?

You would be correct in that area being one of my strengths. Magically, no, I am not that powerful. Poison and ice is about the best I have ever been able to do. I can use shotgun or handgun should the situation require it, but I get the feeling that both would be useless against these Reapers.

There is one other difficulty in this, Nooj. I am aware that you didn't uphold your end of the bargin to me because I person I requested of you is one of these Reapers. I do not want him harmed.

That is an unfortunate and unexpected turn of events far beyond my control. Reapers are chosen by the light, yet Heartless choose the darkness by will. With persuasion, Reapers can fall prey to darkness as well. Yet if you desire him safe, prevent him from finding the line of fire.

Speaking of which, if you desire to join us to weaken the Reapers and their attempt to control us, your contributions will be rewarded, given we are successful, by less light to hinder our existence.

It may be beyond control, but it still leaves you owing me something, doesn't it? Tseng is aware of what I am. He ended up burning me when he put his hand on me. Deceiving him is difficult, but it can be done.

What that is that you require for this fight? Shin-Ra has quite a few capablilities that could be useful such as weapons, the device you hold in your hand, and money if it can be spared. If necessary, I can provide refuge and employment.

It now makes me wonder about Reno, Rude, and Elena though.

There are means which to counter the Reapers, namely a spell known as Void, the equivalent of their Holy. Certainly someone of your calibur would be able to learn such a spell. In time, you shall achieve your desire, if such is what your former heart truly desired. Some desires take longer to achieve than others.

For this battle, I will gladly accept anything which you are willing to offer to the cause. This is a battle is for our continued existence and the darkness. We lose the war, we lose everything and fade into nothingness.

I would appreciate being taught this spell. While what Tseng did to me wasn't overly painful, I would imagine that used offensively, it could be much worse.

Fading is unacceptable to me. What you need, you will have if Shin-Ra can acquire it.

((ooc: Rufus has a very strong sense of survival, and while he wouldn't hurt his Turks, anyone else is fair game. As long as Nooj isn't attacking his people, Rufus would try to arm him and the other Heartless to the teeth as well as provide them with a base of operations. If possible, he'd even let the Heartless track known Reapers by their InterWeb devices the Shin-Ra created.))

On the whole, is there really any choice but to join? I have no wish to die unlike some. I don't lose either. As long as my people are not targets, I will do whatever is necessary to ensure our victory.

There are those who continue to stray away, rejecting the request to join. Perhaps they believe that if they ignore the problem, such will disappear. Or perhaps they are frightened. Or perhaps they belong to the few which stray from the darkness, lured into the light by the Reapers. Whatever reason, there are a few which chose not to join.

As for your people, since you desire them not targeted, I suggest that you ensure they do not find themselves on enemy lines.

Your alliance has greatly strengthened the cause. Your contribution will help ensure our victory.

Hiding in the sand doesn't help them. If they're stupid enough to try to then let them die. Consider it natural selection. I refuse to simply surrender.

((Thanks! Wednesday is probably about the only day I'd be on late enough for or the weekends. I'd love to do what I can that isn't AIM based or the like. I don't have that at work.))
