Well hell
Stupid storm...A nor'easter blew through, and dammit -- this is 'The South', not the North East...Anyway, winds knocked out electrical lines and went without power for nearly 30 hours which was at least, less time than the 5 days originally predicted by Appalachian Power...
Get power back, and discover apparently the power fluctuations that woke me up with my laptop beeping zapped my external drive -- the one holding my backups and assorted files just way too big to keep on the hard drive...Crap.
On top of all that, of course can't go anywhere w/o seeing or hearing about the mess up at Tech. Even though we're over an hour away from campus... Though to be honest, it's the media that irritates me rather than how it's actually been handled around here. To me, it's a horrible thing -- the same as any murder or set of murders. Selfishly, I can be thankful that it involved no one I know and that the local NPR station, although they talk about it -- after all they're sponsored by VT, hasn't been going on and on about conjecture like the rest of the press.
Ugh...at least I think a friend pulled a lot of data off my drive just Sunday night, I know he grabbed my music files at least -- so will have to see if there's anyway to salvage the data.
