Seriously: First I've heard of this new feature
As it happens, I was mucking about in Google translate when I noticed the addition of Haitian Creole BETA. For completely Haiti-unrelated reasons, I was looking up translations of the phrase "host of despair" and thought, hrm. Wo dezespwa, indeed. Translating that back into English comes up with "high despair". Both host (as in many people) and high are all too apropos.
Anyhoo, given the net-connected world we live in now, with folks donating aid by texting on their phones and all, I'm psyched that we're seeing such a powerful addition to the freely available technology out there. Need to communicate vital information and words of support with the indigenous peoples of Disasterstan (through however many intermediaries)? Just like that, it's possible. Thanks, Google.
