Fall 304w - Jonghyun/Jinki

“Exactly, how does this work, Jonghyun?” It is freezing outside and the fact that Jinki can see his breath as he talks delights him more than he would ever admit to the younger, for he would truly show his childish colors.

“You just fall.” And this is truly simple, or at least that is how Jonghyun makes it sound when it rolls of the tip of his tongue. He shoves his hands into this jacket that is barely keeping him warm. He moves a tad bit closer to Jinki so there arms brush each other with each step as they walk to nowhere in particular.

“Just like that…I just fall?” It sounds too easy and there sounds like it has to be a catch to it because he knows how these things work. He looks over to Jonghyun who taking a hit of his cigarette. His hair isn’t the same mixture of blonde fading into brown anymore when they first met. It is now a more calming toffee color that looks soft to the touch and has Jinki’s fingertips craving to graze his head and curl his fingers in those locks.

He sees Jonghyun nod and he stops to smile at him, this lopsided smile.

“So if I fall, you’ll catch me?” Jinki sways back and forth slowly as he doesn’t make eye contact with Jonghyun, he just looks down into the snow, examining the fresh footprints from previous adventurers.

Jonghyun throws his cigarette down, stepping on it. He grabs Jinki’s head and immediately, he looks into the eyes of the younger man before him. The sincerity is evident in his brown orbs. It shines like that glimmer of hope and honesty in Jinki’s heart. Jonghyun intertwines their fingers and chuckles.

“I would catch you of course; I wouldn’t have it any other way."

In Faded Memory 334w - Minho/Key  +

“Does it hurt?” He asks as he stares out into the endless expanse of the sea, the water grazing his toes , coming up and going back at a steady pace. His fingers are in the sand and he can feel it in his fingernails. It is cool and grainy but it feels rich.

“Does what hurt?” Minho looks over to him, wind blowing in his hair and glassy-eyed.

He looks over to him. He opens his mouth to speak but nothing but air comes out. He closes, and this time he tries again but he thinks carefully about how he should put it. But then he remembers something; there is no easy way to ask it.

“You know…..dying, does it sting?” Kibum asks cautiously. He carefully eyes him waiting for his answer, but it doesn’t seem to come in what seems like an eternity. He feels the tensing within his body become greater and he digs his fingers deeper into the sand. Minho gazes straight ahead and he doesn’t waver in his answer.

“It does and then it doesn’t.”

“What hurts the most about dying?”

“The knowing and understanding,” he pauses for a second, trying to collect his thoughts and he stands up brushing the sand off of his legs. The tides begin to get rougher and he helps Kibum up as well. “the understanding and knowing of what will never happen.”

He tilts his head to the right with his eyes closed, inhaling the scent of the water, fresh salt which is embedded in his mind and he intertwines his fingers with the taller boy. “What will never happen?”

“That I can never be with you again.”

Kibum feels his hand drops and he opens his eyes, red and tired. He is scared and he feels like his throat is tightening up and he feels like today will never end and his life is being wasted. Minho is no longer there, only his footprints in the sand.

Just a memory.
