CKY In Detroit

Sep 01, 2005 18:30

Last night was the best fucking night of my life! Here's what went down...
I got home from school and quickly got changed into my black CKY t-shirt with all the guys on the front in black and white and Silence Is Deafening written on the back with the CKY logo placed underneath it. I grabbed the two tickets sitting on my desk, one for myself and the other for my father, and brought all my CKY CD'S along with me to listen to on the way there. (I live about an hour away from Detroit.) After doing so, we got into the car and left. We listened to "An Answer Can Be Found" for the majority of the ride there, since that is my Dad's favorite CKY album. Once we hit our exit, there was traffic going on forever. The doors opened at 7:00, and it was currently 6:20. So I was like "SHIT!" I thought we were going to have to wait in lines forever. After a couple minutes, the traffic was surprisingly cleared up and we were on our way. Once we got to St. Andrews Hall, we saw that the tour bus was parked directly out front. I got really excited. So, I parked the car in the parking lot night next to St. Andrews and walked over to the fairly short line. I was relieved to see that there were only about 20-30 people waiting outside, even though the doors opened at 7. So, we walked over to the end of the line and started waiting. I began to look around, see who was in the area. You know, scope out the place. Who do I see standing five feet away from me? Jess Margera and Matt Dice. There was nobody around them and they were just standing around talking and laughing. I had to do 5 double-takes until I had convinced myself that it was REALLY them. I had brought the jacket to my Volume. 1 cd with me and had it in my back pocket of my jeans, just in case I were able to get an autograph. I felt my heart jump and my Dad asked me what was wrong. I told him that they were some of the guys in the band and I walked over and started talking to them. I said, "Hey, what's up guys?" Jess was eating a box of grape nerds and Matt was drinking some water. "Nothin' much." they both replied. Then they pulled me into a 'group hug' type thing. "Yessss..." I thought to myself. After the big hug, I pulled out my CD jacket and asked them if I could get their autographs. They happily did so, and then this little kid came up to us and asked them for an autograph as well. He had a shirt that said "I like burritos" on it and had a picture of a massive burrito on the back. Jess, Matt, and I all started laughing at the kids shirt. (You had to have seen it, it was so damn funny...) "So you like burritos, huh?" Jess said laughing. "Yeah." the kid responded, then he left with his new autograph. So Jess, Matt, and I stood around talking for about fifteen more minutes until some roadie guy said that they needed them inside for a minute. "Alright, we'll see ya inside." Jess said, putting his hand on my shoulder and finishing up the last of his Nerds. Matt waved bye to me and then they walked inside.
So after that, I walked back into the line where my Dad still was patiently waiting. Then, these guys came around and handed us some DVD's and then left. I was keeping a look-out for Deron and Chad. I waited a couple more minutes until finally, I said "fuck it. I'm going searching for em'." So, I walked out of the alley where we were waiting in and turned the corner and came face to face with none other than CIG himself. "Hey, what's up?" he said happily. "Just waiting to see you guys live." I told him. "It's nice to finally meet ya." I told him a second later. He then grabbed my hand and said, "technically, we haven't really met yet. What's your name?" "Whitney." I told him. "Whitney. Nice to meet you, Whitney." he said, still holding onto my hand. Then, this heavy guy came up to Chad and asked him for an autograph. He happily signed his ticket for him and then the heavy guy said, "I want a fuckin' Big Mac." Chad and I started laughing and then I said, "Dude, I work at McDonalds. I wouldn't order a Big Mac even if I was starving to death." "No way." Chad said. And then he started singing the Big Mac song (you know, the 2 all-american beef patties... la dee da dee da.) to me. I thought it was fucking hilarious. And then he said "Bah da dah dah dah... i'm lovin' ya!" to me. That was so damn great. Then Chad was like, "Want me to sign that for ya?" as I pulled my Vol. 1 CD jacket out of my pocket. I said yeah, so then he starting singing the "Bah da da dah da..." again and wrote "Bah dah dah *the rest are squiggles because he didn't feel like writing and spelling the whole thing out* I'm lovin it! and then signed CIG with the Alliance A next to it. "Dude, that's the fat man theme song" the heavy dude said when he was singing it. Then he said goodbye to Chad and left. So, me and Chad stood there talking about McDonalds and CKY and G G Allin and stuff. I also told him that I wanted him to play Attached At the Hip for me. He said he would. (Yesss....)So 20 minutes went by, and then I realized that my Dad was still waiting in line all by his lonesome, so I told Chad that I had to go. He then pulled me into a hug and said, "Alright Whitney, see you inside" and then some more fans walked up to him and started asking for autographs as I left.
Okay ,now I am back in line with my Dad and it is almost time for the doors to open. The line is all the way down the street now and we are all getting anxious. Then, they started to let us all in. A few minutes had passed and then we had finally reached the front doors. One security guy had me hold my arms out and then waved the wand on me. Then he said I was clear and sent me inside to get scanned and patted for the second time... and the third time. On that third time, I had this HUGE muscular dude patting me down and then I felt someone put their arm around me. I looked over to see Deron fucking Miller. "I know this isn't much fun. Let's fuckin' go inside." he said. So my Dad, Deron, and I all walked inside and sat down at the bar. Deron and I talked for about 15-20 minutes about random stuff and then he had to go back stage. He said goodbye to me and then left. Okay, so I have met the whole damn band already. I couldn't get Deron's autograpg on my CD though because he didn't have a marker on him :( But oh well. I sat down at the bar with Deron Miller, how many other people could say that?
After Deron left, my Dad and I watched the Knives play. They were pretty good. Afterwards, we met all of them, too. But I didn't get their autographs because I didn't really want them. After the Knives played, Fireball Ministry came out and we all started chanting "CKY! CKY! CKY! CKY!" We were tired of waiting for them. The Alliance wanted their CKY. So after what seemed like forever, CKY finally come out on stage. "What's up Detroit!" Deron screamed into the microphone. The crowd went wild. "I love all you motherfuckers." Chad said. Okay, so CKY played the following songs:
96 Quite Bitter Beings
All Power To Slaves
Attached At The Hip *During this song, Chad was looking over at me and mouthed "Ba Dah Da Dah Dah" and afterwards said, "That was for the McDonalds girl."
Close Yet Far *last song of the night*
Disengage The Simulator *encore*
Escape From Hellview *First song of the night*
Flesh Into Gear
Inhuman Creation Station
Knee Deep
My Promiscuous Daughter
Rio Bravo
Sink Into The Underground
Sporadic Movement
Suddenly Tragic
The Human Drive In Hi-Fi
Tripled Manic State

When they were playing, Chad was swinging his guitar all around and throwing his microphone into the crowd. Deron took off his shirt :0 and they all took song requests. (I wish they would have played "Sniped" and "The Way You Lived", but oh well.) CKY had SO MUCH energy on stage and all of us in the crowd just absorbed it and threw it back at em'. We were all psyched and enjoyed every second of it. They played flawlessly and were very entertaining. This was definately a night I will NEVER forget.
Now, I will leave you with something Chad said while on stage:
" I've got tomorrow off, so where are we fuckin' drinkin'?"
