Guide to the Proposals.

Nov 06, 2006 09:04

Since everyone pretty much knows who they're voting for tomorrow, let's talk proposals.

1. "A proposal to amend the State Constitution to require that money held in conservation and recreation funds can only be used for their intended purposes."

This is like buying corncobs to wipe your ass. I'm voting "yes".

2. "A proposal to amend the state constitution to ban affirmative action programs that give preferential treatment to groups or individuals based on their race, gender, color, ethnicity or national origin for public employment, education, or contracting purposes."

Time to strike a blow for whitey, and do away with the idiocy at U of M and elsewhere. "YES!"

3. "An Act to allow the establishment of a hunting season for mourning doves."

How does this shit make it far enough to get voted on? Who gives a rat's ass? This is what I like to call the 'White Trash Act' when I see it on TV. "No." However, I would be all for having a year-round hunting season for geese and deer. My car is either getting shit on or doing avoidance maneuvers thanks to these two nuisance species.

4. "A proposed constitutional amendment to prohibit government from taking private property by eminent domain for certain private purposes."

Who in the hell is going to vote "No" on this. It should read, "A proposed constitutional amendment to prevent the government from raping me using a rusty tire iron." "Yes", with a large side helping of "Duh".

5. "A Legislative initiative to establish mandatory school funding levels."

This one will probably pass, and it's too bad. The teachers' unions protect them so they won't get screwed, but who is going to protect the police, firefighters, and guys like my dad who work for childrens' protective services when their funding is unceremoniously yanked away to build new high school football fields. I'm voting against this with an emphatic "NO", but it's probably pissing into the wind. My mom is an elementary teacher who has worked in that role for around 18 years, my father is a supervisor at CPS (who was a social worker himself for several decades) and has been there for 30 years. Guess who makes 40% more than the other. My mom teaches kids how to sing "Mary had a Little Lamb", and my dad protects Mary from getting pimped out by her mother to HIV-positive, drug abusing jons. Apologies to my mother, but dad actually earns the full amount of HIS meager paycheck.

If you value police, fire, and dudes like my father, vote "No".
