And the world continues to turn

It is amazing to contemplate time. I mean, it has flown by in a way that is just mind boggling for me lately. To think, one year ago this weekend I was moving from Utica, NY back to my parents in Michigan after having quit my zoo job there (don't regret it for a minute!). And now, I'm in Sacramento CA and have been since February. Things are going well, and life is basically good and I am content. Well, mostly content :)

But, life for everyone else has continued moving onward and upward as well. Friends of mine are having children, my little sister is finishing up her first semester of college at Hope. And oddly, my sister and I are getting along better than we ever have in her 18 years of life. We are talking more and just getting along. Distance worked miracles on that sibling relationship! (laughs)

There are things I wish or earn for, of course. I miss my group of friends (you all know who you are :) ), and I haven't really forged any strong forever friendships here like I did in Utica. It makes for some lonely times, but I've always been a bit of a hermit anyway. However, I do occasionally crave the social stimulation, esp around the holidays when everyone is getting together and throwing parties. If I could figure out a way to instantly teleport myself back and forth across the continent, I so would :) I am also missing being in a relationship, this probably stemming in part from the solitary way I've been living lately. I miss having someone to share my evenings with, go out to movies or dinner, or stay in and make dinner (and a mess in the kitchen). Someday, I'll find the right match, but there are times I become very uncertain of this... (sighs) I know it will come in time, but that doesn't always make the waiting easier :)

I am enjoying living in the west - the weather suits me well so far. I've had enough snow and snow shoveling to last me a long long time :)

I hope all of you out there are doing well and having a happy holiday season. I think of you all often, and miss you lots (hugs)

Be well

Sabrina
