1) Who is Lilly Allen? I've heard of her, but I just lumped her into the category of up-and-coming English strumpets who sing and swim in drama (I can barely tell Amy Winehouse and Lady Gaga apart). But really, does she make music equal to her sick Clash cover of "Straight to Hell?"
2) Did anyone else know that Pat Cassells is on MTV? I knew he wrote for College Humor but now suddenly he's a regular on the show. And he's funny! On MTV!!! Who even watches MTV???
3) Where can I get Rilo Kiley's Initial Friends EP? I need it, but I can't find it in stores. Is it electronic or out-of-print?
So I may get a job at the Wtich's Brew, of all places. They start hiring their next round of employees next month. I may have to quit Borders to work there since they're still cutting hours. I'm in Florida now and I've barely spent money, but I had to drop some dough on the "War Child: Heroes" CD that just came out. It's a covers record where the bands are chosen by the original artists to cover their songs. "Straight to Hell" is the best one on there, but The Hold Steady get no points for covering Springsteen, but it still rocks. Get that shit. Now.
V-Day/Brit's bday went well. We got our minds fucked in half by "Revolutionary Road," then lightened up with "The Darjeeling Limited," which she loved so much, she bought it herself (thus perpetuating my Wes Anderson Theory of Favoritism). I missed the Oscars on my flight down to Florida, but luckily my parents DVR-ed it. I'm kinda pissed Mickey Rourke didn't win, but I'm glad Slumdog beat Benjamin Button. Since I've been down here, Dad and I saw "The Reader" (Kate Winslet was as great as she was naked) and "Defiance" (eh, s'alright). Also, the reviews are trickling in for "Watchmen." Next Friday can't come fast enough. Also, the new "Friday the 13th" was a solid slasher film. Nothing special, but quality nonetheless.
Before I left, I found a good hookah bar near Hofstra and managed to get myself hooked on the updated Battlestar Galactica. As soon as I get back I'm plowing through those DVDs as fast as I can. Also, if I sound like a smartass hipster, it's because I've been reading lots of Chuck Klosterman. The man is hysterical. He actually makes me want to own 80s hair metal CDs.
I'm really warm and glad to be down here. 'Night.
