Comic Con went well. I got some laughs, scored some merch and didn't spend all of my money. I stayed with Karl the night before in Inwood. He has a really nice place. Brett was out of the office Thursday so I didn't have to come in, so I spent the day with Jack, who I haven't seen in months. Borders has been good. My next paycheck should be pretty good, but because of some corporate bullshit, nobody at the store gets a raise this year. Meh, I'm just glad to be working right now.
I still need to catch up with people. Yesterday I visited Brittany in Centereach then had dinner with Carol and Jamie. This weekend is V-Day/Brittany's birthday and I just booked a flight to Florida on the 22nd for a much-needed break from NY. I also might come up to Purchase Friday.
Plus, I've discovered an amazing show on the Sundance Channel: Spectacle with Elvis Costello. He plays and interviews guests. This week was a retrospective on showbiz families, which included Jakob Dylan, She & Him, and Jenny Lewis. Apparently her song "Pretty Bird," which I consider the worst song on Acid Tongue is a song about rape....it still sucks, I'm sorry. Elvis did "Carpetbaggers" with her and Zooey, then joined Jakob Dylan for a good cover of "Straight to Hell." They wrapped up with a jam on "What's So Funny Bout Peace Love & Understanding?" It was friggin sweet.
PS- Steve Kraatz, you get brownie points:
