I took the last of the Cipro pills this morning. I feel a lot better, but it still hurts when the cat butts her head against my back. Which she does far too often while I'm sitting. Dull ache. Aleve makes it bearable. Man, I'm tired. It's gonna be a good while before I'm back up to speed, whatever that is. I don't think I've been 100% for at least a year and a half. I think I really just emptied my tank beyond the E. This is no simple matter, as I have no idea how to get fuel. Also, what are these fumes?
Saturday, The Hub and I saw Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Gary Oldman was so still, so restrained. As he gets older, he gets better. The lines in his face are much more interesting to me than the quirky attractiveness of his youth. Colin Firth was great, too. Good film, though it ran sort of long--2 hours--and slow. There's a lot of information-gathering and reconnaissance. Not much in the way of swish pans and carefully choreographed fighting. It's set in 1973 Britain, looks sort of gray and dreary. It works, but there was no one in the theater under 40. Most of the audience was 55+, used walkers, and no one talked during the film. I haven't experienced anything like that in years.
After the movie, we high-tailed it to meet
arashikeiko and
fleetingeyes for Moroccan food. The service started off in a rather desultory fashion, with the waiter not mentioning we could order a la carte. Once he realized we weren't going for the prix fixe menu, he was less than thrilled with us. Still, once things got started, we had a pretty good time. The food was good and the ambiance of Marrakesh was lush and immersive. The company, as always, was the best part. Worst part? The lame belly dancer who bobbled through as we ended our meal. She kept up this lame patter while she did her not-great shimmy. *sigh*
Then we went to Universal City Walk to end our evening with shopping, laughs, and ice cream until late. We luckily arrived too late to catch Rebecca Black and a bunch of other bands and singers appealing to tweens and teens. I gulped my antibiotics, a chunk of a pain pill, and tired myself out! I slept hard when I got home. I have to try to pace myself this week, as I have Dir En Grey on Friday and am meeting my friend Marie on Thursday. Oh, and an open house at the In-Laws' on Sunday...
Yikes. I planned all this stuff when I was feeling okay. :(
