It's called a postcard. Because it's post (you mail it) and it's on the back of a photographic card. It is brilliant, I've found myself sending them to people who don't travel with me anymore so they can see what I see.
For instance, this is the river Terestria on Glochenhera 5. It's a billion light years in distance and twenty decades in the future from you, but with this little picture, you can see what it's like. S'why I like postcards. Glimpses in time.
As for Sol 3, that's the galactic name for Earth. The people on the planet don't really have a name for their star, they just call it "The Sun". No name, just a great big "The". Since they're only a level five planet, they don't know too much about alien life yet.
Earth is the only planet in the universe with Quartz. If they know what it is, you've found it.
What opera did you see? I haven't been to Talox 4 in ages, the remodeling job they've done on that house is phenomenal!
Love, Dad
PS: Rolling Stones? Oooh, you've got yourself a little rebel TARDIS growing. Brilliant!
But I haven't mailed it! I've only left it for you in space, expecting you'll find it at some point. Should we call it something different?
That's... I wish I could see that, Dad. I know I'm supposed to be patient and wait for the TARDIS, but sometimes I really wish I could travel through time now.
My star charts are the Galactic Standard Edition, so I bet Earth is in there was Sol 3. I'm going to start to keep an eye out for it.
I saw The Taming of Cartigenian Morality. Have you seen that one?
Why are the Rolling Stones rebellious?
Love, Jenny
PS: This one's from the forest outside the main city! I went hunting!
We could call it travel-cards! Not quite space cards, not quite postcards. Where we travel to. What do you think?
Here's sunrise over Woman Wept. It's half a galaxy away from Talox 4. I think the planet is populated in your time, might want to have a look. Remember to bring fruit. They like trading with fruit there. Don't ask me why. Something about a scurvy epidemic in 234 RE, I think...
I haven't, no. Maybe I'll take a spin down there next time I'm in the area. It's been a while since I've seen a play at all.
The Rolling Stones? They helped rewrite Earth music, specifically rock and roll.
Love, Dad
PS: Hunting with the natives? Oooh, you are a charismatic one! Did you catch anything?
I like that! Travel cards! That way you know where I've been!
This is a picture of the animals we hunted! They're called Snowy Beaked Beasts, roughly. There are very strict rules about when they can be hunted and how they ought to be killed. The hunters use every last bit of the animal, so nothing goes to waste. They made me a pair of gloves from the hide to remember them by! It was much better than the opera!
Why do they call it Woman Wept? Nevermind! I'll ask them myself when I go! I'll be sure to bring lots of fruit. I'm thinking about upgrading my shuttle so I can start a hydroponic garden. What do you think?
That I will. I'm curious as to what you think of the places you go. I've been traveling around 900 years or so, but I can't see everywhere. I can try, but there's so much out there. We'll simply have to split the universe. You try out one half, I'll try out the other, and we'll meet up and share the best bits.
Snowy Beaked Beasts! Look rather terrifying! How fast do they run? What's the proper way to hunt them? Maybe it's a bit much for a travel-card, I'll have to see if the TARDIS's memory banks hold any information on it.
Hydroponics! Haven't the patience for them myself. Used to have a botanist who traveled with me who was very interested in the concept. I know she said that the TARDIS's natural energy helped plants grow, so maybe you can put them near each other, test that theory out? Let me know what you find.
