Something other than just yellows and browns. The strong yellows are a result of dipping the dyed roving in some ammonia after they'd been dyed. What a dramatic change!

The pale lavender is from elderberries, and the pale peach is from jewelweed. The photo doesn't capture the green of the privit berries dye very well, but I think I'll give that one another go soon. The brown is the rudbekia I'd gathered in the wild. My neighbors are gone for the week so I think I'll livehead the flowers in the garden for my own use. Mwahaha.

Currently have some more wool about to be mordanted (just scoured some roving and some bulky yarn from an unraveled thrift store sweater), and I've used some more roving for a first exhaust dye in the goldenrod and privit dyes. Will probably do an exhaust dye of the rudbekia tomorrow, as well as work on the apple twigs. I've got birch twigs that have been soaking in rainwater for several days put up on the porch where the jar will get more sun, so I'll re-check that in a few days.
