glass

About...dang, must be four years ago, I took a glass-painting class from Peter McGrain (who I mention for the sake of any glass-interested people reading this...look him up). The group of us students each painted a face, and then each was cut up into ten or so pieces and distributed around. That way each student got a puzzley face made of pieces painted by everyone in the class. Well, I never did anything with mine; amazingly, it's been shuffled around for years in a business-size envelope, without incurring damage.

I'm finally doing something with it. I've created a patchwork border for it, and I'm firing some of the pieces now, and I'm going to touch them up and fire again, and then I suppose i can build the sucker! It's nice to get that done. Recently I hung any loose stained glass that was laying around the house up in the front window, which looks a little messy but who cares. There's a blank spot in the lower left that's just waiting for this class panel.

I've also got a great idea for some Cmas gift/painting practice pieces. I'll fuse copper wire into them as hangers, and paint and fire them, so that no lead is involved at all (sure, other than the paint). If/when, I'll put a picture up somehow. Who knows, maybe photobucket, if I can reassure myself that they're benign.
