It's A Sad Day . . .
What an unexpected turn of events! I thought it was some sort of cruel practical joke when I heard about the death of 44 year-old Steve Irwin. I think a lot of us rather expected him to live forever, or at least live to be the oldest man alive, as irony would have it. But a freak accident involving a stingray? I was shocked. Steve Irwin was a big part of my childhood; I rarely missed an episode of The Crocodile Hunter, or anything else on Animal Planet for that matter. It was during those years that I seriously considered becoming a marine biologist. My condolences to the family, namely Terri, Bindi, and Bob Irwin.
