The last student night we went to was just awfully boring. Oh my. We ended up leaving quickly, although maybe it turned better after?
It was free, and we thought it was fair because it, well, s*cked. Guess what. THEY SELL THE PICS! YOU PAY EVEN TO JUST BROWSE THEM IN ORDER TO MAYBE BUY ONE!

Bleh. I'm just more and more disgusted of so many things in the community. I used to roll my eyes when my parents told me they left the big, heavily observant community where I grew up in Paris because they couldn't bear it anymore. I'm starting to understand. I was sheltered from all this, of course it was hard being the only (frum) Jew but I didn't see all this. I wonder, now, if we settle in Créteil, how it will turn.

We have visited the non Jewish daycare just close to here. It looks nice. No place either, of course, but nice, clean, and I wonder if the director, Danielle Reiss, isn't Jewish. When I told her we needed Mati to eat only what we brought for her, she looked at David's kipa and was like "of course!" (+ her name sounds extra Jewish). I couldn't help noticing, among other posters, the Xmas drawing on the wall, but it involved no Santa Klaus, little Jesus or anything. Just a decorated Xmas tree, and the socks hanging in front of the fireplace. And Mati is too young to question this, or to be jealous of not having Xmas... But certainly when she turns 2 or so, it won't be possible anymore...

Maybe though, if I end up sending there, I should tell the ladies we are Jewish and Jewish people can't and don't do Xmas, so Mati shouldn't be told (personally) about what she will receive or whatever... and maybe even tell them if they want to talk of presents, we do "Hanuka"...
