Last day in Israel

Mar 08, 2010 19:06

We picked up my Hebrew name necklace in Mea Shearim and discovered with huge eyes that some kollel men are reduced to work as cleaning men (?) for Pessach. Bachurim, all fine, but married men who spend their day learning? Not fine. What a lack of respect for Torah. Either the wives need a better schooling, or they need to study and work too if they're not supported, as it used to be...

We also discovered bio/natural charlatanism is taking over Israel, making Imamother health fanatics look tame and normal... I'm thinking, a "health rebbetzin" using a pendulum to tell you what vitamins you need. Someone should try a dozen and see if they say the same thing.

Husband nagged me to drive around until we found the kollel opened by his former ruv... Former ruv moved in next to a Belzer area and for some reason the street seems to be men only (husband left the keys on the carso I had to stay near the car as he didn't want me to go in the kollel, yeah for real).
Former ruv tried to be chief rabbi of Jlem but failed by far, and his new kollel is failing too: it wasn't even opened when we went, and the neighbours had no idea when it would. Kollel is named after sponsors of said ruv, who kinda, "buy indulgences" from the ruv for earning so much money by trafficking. Nuf said, it's sick. As a friend told me, let it be, don't think of it, just don't see these people as frum and move on. This ruv has enough tzures from his children anyway (and from his health, but when you drink smoke and eat away....), no need to feed the bad thoughts.

Husband didn't find his former rosh kollel and is disappointed. Oh, and for the sixth day he has a migraine and is now in bed in the dark, so not his style... he even took my meds!

Today and yesterday though I learned again, don't envy others, you don't know what's going on in their life.
