Ok, you probaby ignore it, but I have always been fascinated by Laura Ingalls' family/family tree/in laws family, etc.

Did you ever notice that, of the three Ingalls siblings that got married, no one married a spouse with a smaller age gap than 10 year? and no one managed to have (enough) children? one was childless, one had a nasty very late ( Read more... )

Laura lost two sons, I thought.
And didn't Mary lose her baby to a fire?
Maybe that was just the shows way of portraying things getting mixed in with my knowledge, though!

Mary, irl, never married, but in the tv show she had a late miscarriage and lost a healthy baby to fire. Poor Mary.

Ahh, okay.
It's been ages since I've actually read up on things.
I've always been a huge fan of the show, too, which doesn't help XD

I still have my set of the Little House books I got for Christmas in - um - 1985? ...I don't remember. My dad used to read them with/to me, so I managed without much work to talk him into stopping in De Smet, South Dakota on our way back from Wyoming one year. OMG AWESOME.

I met a (by then old) lady who had as a child sent one of her poems to Laura, and gotten a note back encouraging her to write more. I got to see the note. :)

I love Laura Ingalls stuff too. It's been so long though; I don't remember tons about it. Was Almanzo that much older than her??

No he was just 10 years older. But Carrie & Grace married men around 20 years older.
