ok, ok, fine.
break was nice, less exciting than previous breaks but certainly just as good.
tuesday i took the train down to DC, after spending an hour or so at my dad's school observing the craziness that is 6th graders. seriously, they're insane. all of them. no lie. once i got down to DC, i found my way over to anthony's office, had lunch, got his key, and went back to his apartment, where i proceded to be the most domestic i've ever been-- doing laundry, cleaning the bathroom, the works. oh, and i fake-baked a pie. thats kind of like tanning, but with less risk of cancer (har-har). tuesday night was pancakes and sausage with our story-inducing maple syrup. excellent. and then gymming, where i ran into a guy from lake. go figure.
wednesday anthony dropped me off at the gym on his way to work, and then i came home and spent entirely too long getting ready for that dumb interview. it went well, i think, but i still highly doubt i'll get the internship b/c its just so competitive. but we'll see. afterward i got to wander around the mall and look like i belonged there... fantastic. except that my shoes are broken. ah well. then wednesday night was sushi (the cheap (but good) stuff) and then my triumphant return to the GSPM program-- i.e. going to class w/ anthony. good times. the mango helped.
thursday-- ah, thursday. a good run in the morning, with lots of scenery, then lunch up north w/ anthony's friend and subsequent driving all over the countryside. very pretty, very big, very expensive houses. after a shopping attempt that failed miserably, we gave up and went home, and then ventured back out for the best sushi i've ever had-- dana, i'm sure it doesnt beat yours, but it was damn good for state-side. and we ate at the sushi bar and i lov, ed every minute of it. went home, gorged ourselves on ben & jerrys, watched some movie, drank a lil', and that was thursday.
friday was lots of adventuring. we woke up late, had cheap fake mexican for lunch, and wandered off to old town, where i fell in love w/ anthony's little running store and he got some shoes. much needed. then, after menu-reading stroll around the block and a visit to a very cool old bookstore and an even cooler, older cemetary, we metro-ed it up to arlington cemetary, where we spent the rest of the day doing more wandering and avoiding school groups and planning our dinner. quick stop at whole foods (edit: harris teeter, silly), dinner, movies, and such was friday.
saturday they made me come home. i was not pleased. but! first we went to the cherry blossom festival, to scurry around like tourists and rent a paddle boat like little kids. on the way home a quick stop at whitemarsh proved productive, and then home and dinner, and running into the marvelous andy:).
and then i was back at smith. its going to be a crazy april, lots of stuff to do and i'll be gone for the whole week of the 17th, for that stupid model congress thing-- it better be good. or at least, the food better be good. ah well. spring is almost here, and i am happy, and gary lehring canceled class this morning, so i am even happier, and that is my story. :)
