"Here you go Sammy."
Sam pulled the book that he was reading from out of the way of being crushed by the bright red bag that Gabriel carefully set on the table. It was held together at the top by a green ribbon with a few little holes under said ribbon. “Hum, Gabriel? What’s…?”
“Merry Christmas Sammy!” Gabriel said as he leaned over to place a quick kiss on Sam’s forehead. “I hope you like it; I know it’s something that you’ve always wanted.”
Sam smiled at the archangel, even though it was still a week until Christmas, Gabriel has been popping up with gifts nonstop since the first of December. He reached out to the bag but stopped when it moved. “Gabriel, what’s in the bag?”
“Just open it.”
Sam sighed as he looked between the bag and Gabriel. Finally, after a few seconds, he reached for it again; as he took hold of the bottom, the fabric gave way to something soft and what felt like fur. Then, Sam heard a bark from inside the bag, causing him to quickly open the bag.
“Oh, Gabriel…I…”
“Do you like him?”
Inside the bag was a small Golden Retriever puppy. Sam smiled as he pulled the puppy all the way out of the bag and set the animal on his lap.
“I remember that you said you’ve always wanted one.”
“Gabriel, thank you, he’s beautiful.” Sam took hold of Gabriel’s jacket and pulled the angel close to kiss him.
